Guests say

Sheerwater receives high praise for its stunning estuary views, immaculate cleanliness, and well-equipped, comfortable interior. Guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, spacious layout, and proximity to Appledore’s charming village and coastal walks. While the exterior and estate design are less appealing, and there are several steps to access the flat, these are easily outweighed by the quality of the accommodation and the exceptional views. Parking is generally straightforward, and the property is considered excellent value for money, making it a popular choice for a relaxing getaway.

Multiple reviews highlight the property as immaculate, very clean, and well maintained. Guests consistently mention high standards of cleanliness throughout the flat, including fresh towels and a recently refurbished bathroom.

The location is praised for its amazing views, proximity to Appledore village, and easy access to coastal walks. Some guests note the unattractive exterior and estate design, but the convenience and scenery are repeatedly emphasised as positives.

Guests describe the flat as cosy, comfortable, quiet, and spacious, with comfy beds and quality furnishings. A few minor suggestions are made regarding bedroom furniture and mattress firmness, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The property is described as exceptionally well equipped, with a modern kitchen, washer/dryer, good shower, blackout blinds, and thoughtful touches like binoculars. Maintenance is praised, with prompt attention to any issues. The only minor drawback mentioned is the hot water speed.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful gestures beyond the well-equipped nature of the property, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Sheerwater is a fab place to holiday - roomy, exceptionally clean and comfortable, those views to die for ❤️ and "little things" like big towels, a bath, convenient mirrors plus more. The location is on a steep incline which can be struggle at times but so worth it, I promise! We will be back again one day, preferably in the summer months, as I am desparate to see an Appledore sunset from the front door!

My wife and I booked into Sheerwater for a week in February. We were happy to have booked and would definitely stay there again. For us, the pros outweigh the cons. Regarding the cons, the immediate area is not salubrious - we were of that when we booked but it is presentable and tidy and the people we met in the other flats were friendly. The car park is close to the flat. On one occasion it was full and we had to find roadside parking but the rest of the time we managed to find a car park space. As this was February I can't say whether it would be more or less busy in the summer months when visitors are around. There are 3 flights of steps (37 in all) between the car park and the front door so I would advise against bringing a lot of gear. Also, anyone who has a problem with steps might find it a little challenging. So, the 'pluses' - the flat was welcoming, nicely decorated, stylish but still comfortable and cosy. The flat is very well equipped (in fact, one of the best we have ever seen) and everything worked (well, apart for the oven which was replaced by the caretaking agents who incidentally were accessible, helpful and friendly). The flat is quiet during the day and particularly at night and the view is wonderful! It's no wonder they provided a pair of binoculars. There is enough space for 4 adults although we felt it might be better suited to 2. It's a short, level walk to the centre of Appledore which is a quirky but very interesting place and there are a number walks from the flat to places like Northam Burrows, Westward Ho! etc. So, thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

As others have said, the flats look like a 1960s local authority development. And from the parking area you have at least one flight of steps, plus a slope or more steps. However once inside the flat is warm, very clean, well equipped with all the basics. I especially liked a light bright enough to read by (but dimmable) in sitting area, pyrex bowls for use in microwave, blackout blinds in bedrooms. The view over the estuary is fantastic. Hot water is a bit slow, but instantaneous heater so always plenty of it. Proper fridge freezer (not just an ice box), washer and dryer in kitchen. Central heating was efficient. Single beds were quite firm, I would have found the perfect 20 years ago but now need something a bit squishier. Duvets were 10.5 tog, I took my own summer weight duvet which was ideal. The towels were large and fluffy. There were both dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid, which was great, a washing up sponge or similar would be appreciated, as would a cloth for cleaning bath (I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere which had one!)Street parking adjacent to flats on first come first served basis. 15minute brisk walk to bakery, deli, eateries. No overnight noise from neighbours. Downstairs flat has built decking into the bank at the back of the flat and if in use (in summer I guess) would give view right in to back of flat so net curtail or similar in bedrooms might be a bonus.Dealing with the management company was straightforward and they were very pleasant on the phone. All in all a really nice place to stay, happy to recommend to anyone with good mobility, and would be very happy to stay there again.
