The enclosed walled garden to the rear is a private place to relax with a book or enjoy an alfresco meal during the day.
If you can tear yourselves away from the comfortable surroundings of the cottage, Appledore’s quayside and winding streets are teeming with shops and dog-friendly pubs. Water sports lovers will be in their element at Westward Ho! (3 miles) whose vast beach also welcomes sunbathers and sandcastle builders. For something farther afield, hop on the ferry to Instow (1 mile) to join the Tarka Trail and then peddle to the historic town of Bideford (7 miles) thereafter.
