This smart little cottage is situated less than a mile from the small Devon village of Dousland on the south-western slopes of Dartmoor. Next to the owners' farmhouse, the accommodation has been beautifully renovated to an excellent standard. On the ground floor is a good sized sitting room where you can curl up with a good book beside the cosy wood burning stove. Whilst cooking or eating at the dining area in the kitchen, you will be distracted by the fabulous views of the paddock and the dramatic hills of Dartmoor beyond, tempting you to step out on to the patio which has a barbecue for alfresco meals.
Upstairs is the big and beautiful double bedroom with its romantic bathroom. You are close to the open moor here and it is a lovely place to walk and gaze at the surrounding countryside where the idyllic rural scenes of War Horse were filmed or perhaps at picturesque Burrator Reservoir or the Plym Valley. Enjoy a cream tea at The Garden House with its lovely garden or take a tour of Princetown, the old market town of Tavistock or Plymouths city amenities.The Old Byre is a comfortable place in a lovely area of the moors, just right for exploring Devon and Cornwall.
The pretty village of Yelverton makes a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor with excellent walking and cycling routes in the area. The 21 mile-long cycling and walking route Drake's Trail, runs through the village and links nearby Tavistock and Plymouth passing through wooded valleys and open moorland.
