Chapel Cottage is a charming, characterful retreat praised for its cosy atmosphere, comfortable beds, and excellent location near Dartmoor and local pubs. Guests consistently highlight the well-equipped kitchen, peaceful setting, and thoughtful touches throughout the property. While a few minor maintenance issues and small towels were noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the cottage very clean and tidy, with clean linen and well-presented spaces. A few mentioned minor lapses such as crumbs in the fridge or a dirty washing machine seal, but these were exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to Dartmoor, local walks, and a great pub nearby. Guests appreciated the peaceful village setting and easy access to local attractions.
Guests frequently commented on the exceptionally comfortable beds and sofas, cosy atmosphere, and the warmth provided by the log fire or wood burner. A few minor issues with squeaky beds were mentioned but did not detract from overall comfort.
The cottage is described as very well equipped, with a well-stocked kitchen and amenities for families and dogs. Some minor maintenance issues (e.g., door bolts, water pressure, loose curtain pole) and suggestions for additional items (larger TV, grill pan) were noted.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as milk, wine, biscuits, fresh flowers, and children’s toys. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should not expect them as standard.

Fabulous stay in a beautiful cottage. Very comfy beds. All very well equipped a home from home. Generous with towels and extra touches like washing powder, shower products and plenty of lovely hand washes, can’t fault it. A lovely place too with a fab pub only minutes walk away. Nice and cool too in the heat with thick granite walls. Would be a lovely place to stay in the winter too with nice walks and a log burner. The decoration of the place is lovely too and thoughtful additions of fresh flowers, bubbly and biscuits.

The cottage was warm and comfy. We enjoyed our stay very much. The beds were so comfy and the owners very kindly put fans in both bedrooms as the weather was very hot. Lots of walks from the cottage with our dog. And the local pub was excellent. Overall we had a lovely stay ☺️
