About this property

This delightful barn conversion sits on the edge of the village of Okeford Fitzpaine, in the picturesque county of Dorset. Presented to an excellent standard with superb attention to detail, Willow Brook is a lovely escape for a family or two couples, nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Step inside and make yourself at home in the living room, where you can lounge on the settee and choose something to watch on the TV. Carry the conversation into the kitchen/diner, where the head chef can impress the group with hearty dish, before sitting down at the dining table and taking in the views over the brook. When sleep calls, choose from two double bedrooms to catch your rest, each neutrally presented and offering ample space for your personal items. Start the morning with a rinse in the bathroom before heading out the French doors and relaxing on the private terrace. Lace up those walking boots as the local area offers stunning walks, and you will be rewarded with fine views across the Blackmore Vale from the wonderful Bulbarrow Hill, one of Dorset's highest points, just a short drive from your Dorset holiday cottage. Within easy reach you can explore charming Sturminster Newton, beloved by Thomas Hardy, the bustling Georgian market town of Blandford Forum, ancient Shaftesbury and historic Sherborne, with its castles and abbey. Further afield, escape to the wonderful Jurassic coast for golden beaches, fossil hunting and a wealth of attractions. Willow Brook promises a superb Dorset holiday base, to be enjoyed in any season.

Surrounded by a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village of Okeford Fitzpaine boasts a local shop and pub, with further shopping facilities at nearby Sturminster Newton. The small market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six arch 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation for those who damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage coastline is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round!

Apart from the location, the choice of Willow Brook for our accommodation was based on the previous excellent reviews and the impressive images of the property. We were not disappointed; the property was spotlessly clean, modern, fresh, well equipped and very comfortable. The welcome tray with local produce along with a bottle of wine, milk in the fridge, tea and coffee available and the fresh flowers around the barn were a lovely and welcome surprise on our arrival. Andrew and Janine were excellent hosts; friendly and welcoming though unintrusive but available in the event of any issues arising. Willow Brook felt like a home from home during our stay and we would have no hesitation returning in the future.

Spotless throughout. Very thoughtful hamper with locally sourced produce and fresh cut flowers made for a warm welcome after our journey. We were met in person by Andrew, who had kindly ensured the the lights and heating were on for our arrival. Start up provisions were available in the kitchen and bathroom. There was a bundle of freshly laundered towels for each guest in our party. The beds were very comfortable. We had access to our own beautiful planted garden to the side of the property. It was very relaxing to sit there and listed to the birds singing against the background sound of the babbling brook a few feet away. Andrew and his family were very pleasant to chat to on the few occasions we happened to meet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and feel relaxed and recharged. We would definitely like to return another time.

Andrew was an awesome host, even brought us an umbrella to shelter everyone when unpacking the car as it was hammering down! Very thoughtful welcome package was left with some local produce, and a few essentials that are really handy if you don't bring anything in with you. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely be back again.
