About this property

In a terrace of about twelve cottages on the edge of Charlton Marshall village is this dear little cottage. Surrounded by countryside and unspoiled, it is a tranquil base for small families or adults to relax. Head down a couple of steps through the porch into the snug sitting room where you can chill out beside the open fire or enjoy your meals, prepared in the well equipped kitchen. Head on up the steep olde worlde stairs to the two pretty bedrooms, both looking over the garden. The garden is safely enclosed and charming with roses and clematis sheltering the table and chairs. Wander out to the village pub, which conveniently offers WiFi, or go fishing in the local river valley. Head to the handsome resorts of Poole or Bournemouth for some seaside fun or to admire the boats in Poole Harbour, or try the more peaceful coastline around iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove which is timeless walking country. Poppy Cottage is a lovely place to recharge your batteries or walk and cycle on the Stour Valley Way.

The friendly, elongated village of Charlton Marshall can be found in a rural Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty beside the River Stour, two miles south of the lively Georgian market town of Blandford Forum.

spotlessly clean, very comfortable furniture, lovely open fire..the kitchen was very well equipped, everything you needed. the owner had put some xmas bits around which was very thoughtful. the stairs were steep, but not a problem as there was a banister to hang onto. the only criticism was the single bed was a bit uncomfortable as you could feel the springs. maybe a thick mattress topper would help. other than that it was perfect. Lots of places within easy driving distance, the trailway was a nice walk, we had heavy rain and gale force winds all the time we were there, but didnt stop us going out!

Plenty of free cupboard space in the kitchen and quality cooking equipment including a slow cooker. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities with quality linen and towels. Excellent Wifi connection. A truly peaceful location with walking trails from the door but also easy vehicle access to the main routes for inland attractions and the coast. Highly recommended.

It is a little tight for space upstairs but ideal for the two of us. Comfortable beds. Good value.
