Guests say

Rose Lodge in Dorset offers a tranquil, idyllic retreat with beautiful surroundings, cosy interiors, and a warm welcome. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the charm of the lodge, coupled with outdoor activities and the peaceful setting, makes for a delightful stay.

Guests consistently report that the lodge is clean and well-kept, with several reviews specifically mentioning the cleanliness of the interior. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is frequently described as beautiful, peaceful, and ideal for exploring Dorset. The presence of wildlife, fishing lakes, and woodland walks contribute to the high rating, although the remote setting may not suit everyone.

The majority of guests find the beds comfortable and the lodge cosy, especially with the warm welcome of lights and fire. However, some guests mention uncomfortable seating and a lack of outdoor furniture, slightly lowering the score.

Facilities like the pizza oven, fishing lakes, and welcome packs are well-received, but several reviews cite issues such as a dripping tap, loose fixtures, and the absence of a pizza oven despite being advertised. These maintenance concerns affect the score.

Guests frequently express gratitude for the generous welcome packs, which include food and sometimes wine or flowers. While these gifts are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Everything was spotless. The beds were super comfy & the rooms were generous with some lovely personal touches (& very quiet & dark). The kitchen is well equipped. Although we appreciate that some guests welcome a dishwasher, personally a cupboard to store food would have been more useful for us. The lovely surprise of a bottle of wine, sausages, bacon, eggs, milk, coffee beans & teabags, loo rolls (!) was really appreciated, thank you! Our only issue was when all the lights tripped due to a fault with the outside light due to the rain. The owner tried to rectify it but unfortunately couldn’t. However, her children came down with three extra table lamps to get us through the night & even their battery pumpkin light, bless. Once it dried out the next day, the electrics went back to normal but it would have made things a bit difficult if it had not (especially as there is no window in the shower room & the spiral staircase is a little challenging holding a torch). We didn’t have time to fish on this trip but the lakes looked well maintained & we will be tempted back. Although the decor is a little tired & the runners on the shower door need some maintenance, we loved the lodge - especially the care taken by the owners to make it clean, cosy & welcoming.

The bathrooms were freezing - no heating in either room - so not for the faint hearted. The fishing was excellent with many carp between 7 and 10 lb

Rustic, comfortable, and clean cottage in an idyllic setting. Lots of extra touches to make our stay comfortable and fun. We loved the golf!
