We enjoyed our stay at The Lodge. We spent 4 nights in Hinton St Mary and valued the excellent location. Hinton St Mary is a quaint place with local walks from the door and a handy cricket field just steps away, where our dog was able to run off lead. Just a few improvements which could be made to make this Lodge even more lovely… New toilet seat - this moves each time you sit on it. A new can-opener, the one provided needs throwing away… it doesn’t work!Front door rattles in the wind… this needs looking at.Cushions in the lounge could do with a clean.Gloves required for woodburner A clean under the sofa… we found things underneath that were not left by us!A general spring clean, little things like hair on skirting board in bathroom… not pleasant.A welcome pack would have been well-received, even just a small milk. This is a luxury accommodation & I would have expected this.

Lovely property in a great location. In the grounds of a beautiful historic private house. Attractive village with a great pub doing delicious food. Excellent choice of takeaways in Sturminster Newton, a mile down the road. Only things missing were a teapot and egg cups. Otherwise well appointed and comfy.

The Lodge is outstanding! Very comfortable, warm, well equipped, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean. We had a fantastic break. The setting is magical, very peaceful. Great to be able to walk around in part of the grounds. Sturminster Newton was lovely too - great shops and delicious lunch at The White Hart. Highly recommend staying here.
