Poppy Cottage in Swanage offers a charming stay with its cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds. The property's location is appreciated for its proximity to the town and peaceful setting. Guests enjoy the quaint garden and the cottage's character, though some find the kitchen and bathroom facilities a bit challenging due to their size.
The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests found it spotless, while others noted issues with hair and dust. The presence of cleanliness concerns in several reviews suggests room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for being close to Swanage town and within walking distance to the beach. However, parking difficulties slightly affect the score.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the sitting room cosy. However, the steep stairs and cramped spaces in some areas of the cottage have been noted as detractors from the overall comfort.
Facilities are seen as adequate but in need of updating, with a small kitchen and shower, and some appliances not working properly. The lack of basic supplies and challenges with the dishwasher and oven are noted.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

Impossible to shower without flooding bathroom (combination of tiny cubicle, shower curtain and holder/head that won't turn away from the curtain!) Well provided with anything you'd need in kitchen but again so small couldn't really do more than breakfast in there. Bed was really comfy but only a double due to size of space (not issue for many but my 6ft3 partner found it a bit tight!) Only window that opens downstairs is tiny bathroom window so very warm once the sun came out. The image of front door/garden is lovely but can't really use it - there is chair in front of the door and if you do manage to get it open the garden isn't fenced or private in anyway but shared with several other cottages so hopeless if you have a dog (there is a paved back garden but not as pretty!) Not the owners fault, but strong smell of marijuana throughout the downstairs - assuming from neighbours....

(uphill coming home) We ate out every night with excellent meals at local pub. Tiny kitchen so could be problem if cooking and preparing for 4. Stairs particularly steep if anyone has mobility problems. Luckily dogs not advised up stairs as ours couldnât make it. Parking a problem but we managed every day within nearby roads.

Small but more spacious than I was expecting given some of the reviews. Had everything we needed. Only suggestion would be to get bed sheets that fit the thick mattress properly as they kept coming off overnight
