Swanage is a small, family-friendly beach town on the renowned Isle of Purbeck, at the eastern extremity of Dorset's renowned Jurassic Coast. Swanage is arguably best known for its lovely, gently sloping golden sands. The small town is noted for its yearly jazz festival, which is held in July, as well as for its abundance of stores, fine taverns, and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood. The charming Victorian wooden pier is a lovely spot to promenade, go fishing, or just sit and take in the sights. It's also a popular starting point for divers. Regular vintage steam engine excursions transport tourists on a charming 6-mile journey, chugging through gorgeous countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle, from the town's terminal on the historic Swanage Railway. In addition to comfortable viewing areas and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air, the nearby Durlston Country Park offers a fantastic day out with breath-taking coastal hikes, dolphin spotting, and animal watching.

I hadn’t realised there was no dishwasher at the property which was a bit of a disappointment having to wash up for 4 people nightly. The kitchen utensils/pots & pans do need looking at & renewing. The knives were all pretty blunt and a lot of the pans were quite well used with bottoms scrapped off. The downstairs shower head needs looking at as it just trickled out a few of the holes in the middle of the head & we all ended up using the upstairs shower despite picking a property with 2 bathrooms for ease. The info book said to put bins out on Thurs night for a Friday collection but we saw the residents putting theirs out Thursday morning luckily so we did same & collection is Thursday, so that needs updating. The WiFi seemed very slow when 4 of us were connected & if you wanted to browse internet you had to come off the WiFi. As I say it’s a great location but parts of the property & kitchen contents need a bit of TLC. Also it’s the only holiday let we stayed in that had no welcome pack at all.

Like a previous reviewer, I was surprised there was no dishwasher, as the kitchen had been modernised along with the bathroom. Outside, the property looks a little shabby compared to others around it and the driveway is fairly narrow, which is not helped by having a holly hedge next to it!

Would definitely stay again next year if it’s available .
