Old School Retreat is a spacious and characterful cottage in a peaceful village setting, ideal for families and groups. Guests praise its unique charm, large living areas, secure garden, and proximity to Dorset attractions. The property is well-equipped and comfortable, with responsive owners and a handy village shop nearby. While some mention areas needing a deeper clean and minor maintenance, most found their stay enjoyable and would return. Occasional thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, are appreciated but not guaranteed.

Several guests noted that the property was generally clean and comfortable, but recurring comments highlight areas needing a deeper clean, such as carpets, bathrooms, and kitchen appliances. Some reviews mention dust, crumbs, and occasional maintenance issues, though most found these did not detract significantly from their stay.

The location is highly praised for its peaceful village atmosphere, easy access to Dorchester, Weymouth, and Dorset attractions, and proximity to a well-stocked village shop. Guests appreciated the convenience and tranquillity, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.

Guests found the cottage spacious, warm, and comfortable, with ample room for families and groups. Beds and living areas are generally well-received, though a few found beds firm or low. The property stays cool in hot weather, and the secure garden is a bonus for dogs and children.

The property offers good facilities, including a large kitchen, garden, and parking. Some guests noted a lack of certain kitchen utensils, limited glassware, and minor maintenance needs (e.g., blinds, dishwasher, oven). Overall, facilities are functional but could benefit from some updates and attention to detail.

A number of guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts and treats, though these are not guaranteed for every stay. The owner is described as approachable and responsive to issues, contributing positively to the guest experience.

A lovely building in a lovely part of the country. The property was beautiful and had everything we could need. The only downside was that we ideally wanted a location with a pub in walking distance but unfortunately the local pub closed down recently. Also if you don't like spiders beware as the incredibly high ceilings did mean a few cobwebs. Despite this I would happily return.
