Formerly the village forge, this cosily renovated and well furnished holiday hideaway nestles in the sleepy village of Lower Wraxall. It adjoins another cottage and is set opposite the owners’ farmhouse, in a ½ acre of private, partly wooded garden leading down to a stream. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is an abundance of wildlife to be found locally; footpaths and bridleways, making it a perfect location for exploring deep into the Dorset countryside. There is good access across Eggardon Hill to the World Heritage coastline at Burton Bradstock or to the harbour and beaches of West Bay. Also within easy reach are Sherborne, Bridport, Yeovil and county town of Dorchester. Breakfast and evening meals can be provided by prior arrangement. Shop 1 mile.

We love coming to The Old Forge. It is a way from large towns but it is what we like about it. The wildlife and Village happenings are fun. So quiet and peaceful. Generous host in Judy. Always welcoming. Place is easy to care for.

Lovely peaceful location, with a good dog friendly garden. The hosts were very kind and generous leaving homemade cake, fresh eggs and milk, also the nice touch of a vase of fresh sweet pea flowers from garden made the cottage smell wonderful. The bird feeders on the patio attracted a wide variety of birds. We will definitely make a return visit.

We enjoyed being in the cottage with our golden retriever. It is warm, comfortable and close to places we wanted to visit - Athelhampton N.T., Bridport street market, Dorchester, Abbotsbury subtropical gardens and Kingston Lacy N.T.
