Guests have found Church Cottage to be a charming and cosy property with a welcoming atmosphere, set in a picturesque village. The presence of a wood burner and a generous welcome pack were appreciated, enhancing the overall experience. The cottage's proximity to a beautiful church adds to its quaint appeal, although the church bells are noted. The property's traditional features and garden are highlights, contributing to a memorable stay for many visitors.
The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. Some guests reported it to be tidy upon arrival, while others noted issues with cobwebs, pet hairs, and a musty smell. The presence of dust and the condition of some kitchen items were also mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its excellent setting and quietness, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. The proximity to a church with hourly bells was both a charming feature and a point of contention for light sleepers.
Comfort levels are generally high, with guests enjoying the beds and the cosy living space. However, some concerns were raised about dampness affecting the furniture and bedding, and the layout of bedrooms affecting privacy and access to bathrooms.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely garden. However, maintenance issues such as dampness, hot water temperature, and the need for repairs to furniture and pathways were noted. The TV and internet services also received criticism.
The welcome pack and local goodies were frequently mentioned and appreciated, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Within the area you will find countryside walks rich in wildlife and the perfect activity to start your day. If you wish to explore the history of the area further head over to Coney’s Castle. The Jurassic coast is only a short distance from the property, and a visit to the rocky bays is a must, and you can learn more about the area at Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre before taking a stroll along the beach and seeing what fossils you can uncover. With such a stunning property in a great location, you are bound to make a holiday to remember with a stay at Church Cottage.
Referred to as the capital of the Marshwood Vale, Whitchurch Canonicorum is an attractive mix of farms and cottages. Whitchurch Canonicorum is where you can find the very ancient church of St. Candida and the Holy Cross. It is unique in being the only parish church in England to contain the remains of an ancient saint. There is a well nearby, also named after the Saint, which is also rumoured to have similar healing properties. The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns.
