Walks can be had directly from the garden out into the forest.
The Forest of Dean is bordered by the Wye Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the River Severn. In this compact area there are outdoor activities in abundance including horse riding, golf, fishing, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing. Wonderful walks with stunning scenery await you within the forest and the Wye Valley, and every season has a beauty of its own. Time your stay to coincide with the Severn Bore, one of the natural wonders of the world. There are numerous fun places to visit with attractions such as GoApe, Puzzlewood, Tintern Abbey, Dean Forest Steam Railway, Dean Heritage Centre, Clearwell Caves and the Sculpture Trail.
The property consists of a boot room, open plan living/dining and kitchen space, with breakfast bar, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer dishwasher, underfloor heating throughout the property, Smart TV and patio doors leading to the large enclosed patio area with garden furniture. There is a double bedroom with underfloor heating and patio doors, wet room with walk-in shower and heated towel rail. Externally there is a utility area with washing machine and bike storage and an outside tap to hose off your bikes.
We have a strict no smoking policy inside Apple Tree Barn. The use of e-cigarettes, candles, tea lights and ethanol burners are also strictly prohibited inside Apple Tree Barn, this comes under the 2005 fire safety law.

It was an amazing stay and a beautiful place to unwind and relax. There was a lovely welcome pack which went down a treat. The cottage has all amenities that are necessary for a wonderful stay. Some lovely forest walks around the cottage which take you up to Mallard Pike Lake and Go Ape adventure park. We visited Sanremo Italian restaurant which has lovely food and worth a visit.

Date of stay June 12th - 19th 2026Lovely accommodation, perfect for all our needs - fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living area, bedroom with plenty of space, a patio overlooking the hillside and spotless! Beautiful location, with plenty to see and do without travelling to far. Would highly recommend for a short or long stay. Hosts were lovely, very helpful, especially when we got lost locating the barn. Oh, welcome pack, cake and cider, was very welcome indeed.

A brilliant place to stay. A very warm welcome from Sara with a lovely welcome pack. The cottage was a delight. Warm, cosy and clean. The kitchen was the best I have used. First rate, very high quality pans, hob and oven. The views from the cottage were stunning, and despite the rain it was really impressive watching the weather move towards us from the distance. A lovely spot for sight seeing or just chilling and watching the weather and wild life. It is without doubt the best cottage we have stayed at.
