Christchurch is an ideal base to explore the Royal Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, a pretty village with village pub and store. Just a short drive from the market town of Coleford, shop local produce or visit the restaurants and Tapas bar. From your door you are served with access onto the countryside and woodlands, also with Symonds Yat Rock a short drive, and just a little further are the banks of the River Wye. For the more adventurous there is caving, abseiling and canoeing available from Symonds Yat, and a high wire rope course from Mallards Pike. Bike hire is available with trails that will take you deep into the forest. Visit Puzzlewood and Clearwell with ancient caves, and Ross on Wye, with timbered Tudor houses, shops and restaurants.
