The Forest of Dean is popular all year round with outdoor pursuits such as climbing, mountain biking, dedicated cycle tracks to suit all abilities, walking, fishing and many visitor attractions such as Puzzlewood, Go Ape and the steam railway, to mention just a few. Gloucester itself offers a healthy mix of major stores and an array of independent and regional retailers, many of which are unique to Gloucester which makes the city an ideal place to shop. The docklands are a big attraction with museums, bars and cafés. The picturesque Wye Valley offers wonderful scenery, fishing on the River Wye, canoeing and kayaking. Racecourses at Chepstow and Cheltenham are within an easy drive and the market towns of Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth and Abergavenny host many food, literary and other festivals throughout the year.
