We left a day early. Had I been there on my own, I wouldn't have stayed more than one night. We thought the barn itself was lovely, well positioned, with amazing views of the tor from the kitchen, and the water pressure and the hot water was good. However, we were very disappointed by a number of things:1. Communication was a bit slow – and although we could see they had read the messages – they didn’t respond.2. It would appear that, of their three properties that they let for holidays, ours was the only one occupied – so we could have been allowed in earlier.3. Retrieving the key sounded simple enough, but it took several attempts to open the cover (putting it back wasn’t easy either)4. There was a cat that had been locked in the property when we arrived.5. The level of cleanliness was not acceptable* there was something sticky on one of the door shelves in the fridge, and on one of the drawer handles* there were crumbs on the kitchen counter* the dining room table was sticky* there were bits on the carpets in both bedrooms and on the landing * there was dust on most surfaces, including the stairs6. The bed linen, pillows and towels* the bed linen and pillows seemed to be old and/or poor quality and the sheet didn’t fit the left hand twin bed* the towels were thin, stained, and I wasn’t even sure if they were clean for us7. The mattress on left hand bed in the twin room was uncomfortable, it was like I was sleeping on the base.8. We had to sort out the TV.
