A short drive from this cottage near Shepton Mallet lies the well-known Shepton Mallet showground, offering a great variety of regular events. Take a day trip to mystical Glastonbury, majestic Wells or regal Bath, all an easy drive from your Shepton Mallet cottage, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll or bike ride across the picturesque Mendip Hills. Shepton Mallet, often known as The Gateway To The Mendips, is a small rural Somerset town, situated at the southern end of the Mendip Hills. Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Mendip Hills offer scenic walks with fine views in all directions, with great opportunities for horse riding and mountain biking, and are famous for spectacular gorges and caves, particularly those at Cheddar and Wookey Hole. A short drive takes you to the ancient town of Glastonbury, well known for its music festival, Tor and centre for mystical arts, or explore nearby Wells, England's smallest city, whilst the historic city of Bath also lies within easy reach. A picturesque and interesting holiday destination at any time of the year.
