Determining which cottage is Sheep Shanks required entering the key code to discover the correct door - neither cottage is labelled. On the right hand side of the property, just outside the area covered by the photo, is a large open fronted area that is full of junk. The pig and goats have long since gone: the bucolic farmyard pictures bear no resemblance to what more closely resembles a building site. The garden/patio is a small grubby spot underneath a tree up a set of rickety steps some way from the cottage itself. The lighting is very poor - the bedside lights flicker (a known but unsolved issue), and there is inadequate light to read by in the sitting area. The bedding was stained and the duvet was of very poor quality. Storage is very limited; the broken chest of drawers smelled rather mouldy. The non functional wood burner is rather a waste of the limited space. No live TV channels were available - this is the second successive time I’ve experienced this on holiday. Is it a new trend? The oven is 5 feet off the floor, making it potentially very dangerous - I’m surprised this passed a safety inspection. The crockery is very limited and some of it is chipped. The dishwasher was therefore very useful, once we’d bought tablets for it. The pots and pans have seen much better days. The dining tabletop is not securely connected to the base and therefore wobbled alarmingly. The cooking facilities are very limited - it really falls short of “all you could need for a self-catered stay” - it’s ok for a weekend perhaps but is not suitable for a week. The pub that is 0.1 miles away was closed for the entirety of our week long stay; the eating and drinking options in Shepton were very limited, though we did find an excellent restaurant: Aurora Kusina that is definitely worth a visit. On the plus side, the shower and heating were very effective.

Sheep Shack is a great location for visiting Bath/Wells/Glastonbury, etc. Accommodation is cosy and well-appointed, facilities are very good, but we had major problems with the internet-fed TV through the week though could still get Netfilx/Youtube. Vehicle access into and around the property is quite narrow in places so perhaps a challenge if you're an inexperienced driver.
