About this property

In the little village of East Lambrook, about a mile from South Petherton village, is this detached cottage. Converted from stables, it is a stylish base for a couple. From the drive, where a horse occasionally clip-clops by, head up a couple of steps through arched doors into your smart kitchen with its flagstone floor and table for enjoying breakfast over the papers. For suppers or quiet time, you have a dining room too, also with the charming flagstone floor, where you can enjoy the ready meals available if you don't feel like cooking or eating at the village pub. The sitting room is cosy, with its oak floor and lovely Knole sofa to relax on.

Take the stairs up to your double bedroom, a romantic room with big bed and atmospheric period fabrics, accompanied by a bathroom with characterful roll-top bath or option of a shower. Outside, you have a pretty sitting out area in the garden of the owners' old thatched farmhouse, as well as use of an orchard where you can enjoy sunny alfresco meals at the picnic table. This is a wonderful area for visiting amazing houses and gardens or churches. Within the village itself is a manor house with cottage gardens famous for the national snowdrop and geranium collections, where you can buy plants to take home and enjoy afternoon tea, or head off to wonderful Montacute, Barrington Court or Tintinhull.

Walk up Ham Hill for superb views from the Iron Age fort. The closest coast is in Dorset, at Bridport or Lyme Regis. With easy access to the A303 or M5, Pittards Farm Cottage is a smashing location for exploring the area.

The small, attractive town of South Petherton is surrounded by South Somerset's glorious countryside, with the town's central conservation area boasting a wealth of lovely hamstone buildings, oozing quiet, timeless charm, and with local inns serving good food, real ales and Somerset ciders.

Hosts Huw and Viv extremely friendly. Only downfall as we experienced was parking the car sadly if you have a larger car the turning area to park on concrete parking area was extremely tight so anyone with a larger vehicle will struggle also you need to be aware there are a lot of hazards you could easily reverse into whilst trying to park.

Viv and Huw were very good hosts and the cottage was beautiful, a real home from home. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. There is a lovely pub just a couple of minutes walk away which serves delicious food, all in all we could not fault Pittards Farm Cottage and would not hesitate to go back there.
