This attractive stone cottage is situated on the edge of the delightful little village of Churchinford in the heart of the Blackdown Hills. It is set on one side of the courtyard of Ford Farm, an immaculate small holding with just a handful of the relatively rare and charming little Dexter cows, unusual Shetland sheep, along with a fine collection of free-range geese, ducks and chickens. This is a Designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and rightly so, being a tranquil, beautiful and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon Somerset border. The nearby lakes of the Otterford Estate are a popular place for walkers, particularly for their rich flora and fauna and for the historical remains of the house and also the Victorian garden. A nearby farm shop where you can buy quality foods of all kinds and enjoy a meal in the restaurant. A yearly weekend fixture, held in August, which is always great fun, is the Churchinford beer and music festival.
'Ford Farm has to be one of Snaptrip's best kept secrets! Located in a sleepy village in Somerset down a very quiet lane. What so many people don't realise is that for exploring the West Country be it Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, it has to be just about the best location ever. You are in Devon in a second and the majority of 'attractions' are within a 30 minute drive in any direction - this includes the seaside! The 'Stable' is a very comfortable and immaculate cottage. The facilities were 5 star. You would never guess that this was a working farm, it is so tidy and very pretty. The owners were wonderful and nothing was ever too much trouble. They were more than happy to give us advice on the local area and places to visit. Please also pass on our thanks to them for allowing us to share their dogs, sheep, chickens etc. It really made the holiday!' Angela Pennock
