My wife and I (plus dog) have just returned from a lovely 4 day stop at Flaxpool Well, and had a fantastic time there. What helped was obviously the unseasonal warm October weather, which enabled us to sit on loungers in the garden, and in the afternoon one day, lay on the enormous bed in the sunshine with the patio doors open! Talking of the garden, it is absolutely perfect if you have a dog, and like other people we were charmed by the owners dog Teggy, who to our delight spent quite a few hours with us during our stay. The garden room is as described on the website, and is really nicely appointed with quality furniture, curtains, bedding etc. We also enjoyed exploring the area visiting Watchet, Dunster, Taunton and local villages like Stogumber and Bishops Lydeard. A must visit place is the Carew Arms in Crowcombe, a place we took morning coffee at, and also lunch one day. Wow, what a quirky pub this is, and really friendly too. Finally, we had no problem accessing the property by car, easily negotiating the entrance to the drive without noticing that some people might have a problem with this.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Garden Room, which is positioned in the owners large secure garden just off a main road, so thankfully no tiny lanes, which I have dreaded navigating in the past and once at the property no road noise so really quite. The owners were really friendly and helpful - wonderful home baked warm scones with jam and cream also supplied as a surprise. The resident Boarder Terrier is super chilled and got along really well with our sometimes reactive little dog.The Garden Room was extremely clean and very well presented, lovely fluffy towels and huge super king size bed. Although the kitchenette comprised of a microwave and 2 ring hob, this was sufficient for our us as we ate out most days. The Garden Room is well positioned for visits to Taunton, Minehead, Watchet, Dunster and Somerset Steam Railway at Bishops Lydiard. Lots of pubs within easy driving distance providing superb local food. Would definitely stay again.

What a wonderful break! The accommodation was clean, bright and spotlessly clean, as one would hope. The bed was even more comfortable than ours at home, and the sizeable bathroom with its excellent shower was a real plus. John and Carolynne were perfect hosts; warm and welcoming, whilst allowing us plenty of space to relax and wind down. Our two dogs made themselves at home in the lovely garden and made friends with the resident Border Terrier, who is sweet and gentle. We enjoyed sitting outside on our private patio, and when the English weather misbehaved, we snuggled up indoors on the comfortable sofa to read. Carolynne has thoughtfully provided lots of information on great walks and interesting things to do, as well as good local places to eat out. A fabulous restful stay and an ideal base to explore the Quantocks. Thank you very much.
