Well Cottage in Watchet is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and well-maintained garden. Guests appreciate the fully equipped kitchen, spacious layout, and secure area for dogs. The location offers peaceful walks and proximity to attractions like Dunster Castle and Minehead. Some guests noted a steep drive and a detour due to a road closure, but these did not detract from the overall positive experience.
Guests consistently noted the immaculate condition of the cottage, with special mentions of the cleanliness of every room and the presence of fresh flowers, indicating a high standard of cleanliness.
The cottage's serene, rural setting with panoramic views is much loved, though the road closure and distance to shops have been minor inconveniences. Its proximity to nature and attractions balances these points.
Reviewers found the cottage cosy and welcoming, with ample seating and a secure garden. The spacious layout and practical features like a utility room add to the comfort level.
The property is well-equipped with modern conveniences, including good Wi-Fi and a gas BBQ. However, some guests mentioned a hot water hiccup and the need to boost water heating, suggesting minor maintenance issues.
Guests were touched by the thoughtful touches such as flowers, biscuits, and tea on arrival. While these gifts are appreciated, it's politely noted that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

A Truly Enchanting Stay at Well CottageWell Cottage is an absolute treasure nestled in the heart of a breathtakingly idyllic landscape. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by its charm, serenity, and the sheer beauty of the surroundings. Before our visit, Mr Constable was incredibly helpful—providing clear directions, key collection details, and even recommending some lovely walking routes nearby. His thoughtful guidance set the tone for what turned out to be a truly memorable stay. The cottage itself is tucked away in a wonderfully rural location. While the hilly terrain was a bit of an adventure for someone used to flatter roads, it added to the sense of escape and tranquility. The property is clearly signposted, with a gravel parking area leading to a secure gate and a beautifully maintained front garden. It was perfect for our two dogs, including our gentle giant, and the open fencing allowed us to soak in the panoramic views—rolling hills, grazing sheep, and an abundance of wildlife including goats, cows, and countless pheasants.Stepping inside, we were instantly delighted. The entrance porch is practical and welcoming, with ample space for coats and shoes. The living room is cosy and well-appointed, featuring generous seating, a 40-inch TV with Sky and a DVD player, and plenty of outlets for charging devices. The adjacent dining room is a lovely space, complete with a cupboard full of board games and puzzles—ideal for relaxed evenings in.The kitchen is impressively spacious and fully equipped, with every utensil and cleaning product thoughtfully provided. We were even greeted with tea, coffee, and milk—a lovely touch. Our Tesco delivery arrived smoothly, making settling in effortless.Downstairs also includes a cloakroom and utility room, adding to the cottage’s practicality. Upstairs, the layout is perfect for families or groups: a double room, a twin room, a shared bathroom, and the pièce de résistance—a master suite with a king-sized bed, its own TV, a dressing room, and a luxurious bathroom featuring a double shower and an oversized bath. Every room was immaculately clean, beautifully presented, and even adorned with fresh flowers—such a thoughtful detail. We did experience a brief hot water hiccup one day, but with a little timing adjustment, it was easily resolved and didn’t detract from our enjoyment. Our days were filled with peaceful walks, visits to Dunster Castle and village, Dunster Beach, Minehead, and even a scenic drive to Weston-super-Mare. The garden was a favourite spot for morning coffee and evening unwinding, with views that truly soothe the soul. One small suggestion would be to update the house instructions or replace the router planner, as we couldn’t locate it during our stay.In summary, Well Cottage offers a blissfully peaceful retreat, perfect for recharging and reconnecting with nature. While the hills may have tested my driving nerves, the actual cottage was a dream, and if Mr Constable wants a house sitter, I’m available! Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquillity, comfort, and a touch of countryside magic.Only downside, the nearest shops were approx. 20 minutes drive away.

Great place to stay if you love peace and quiet and enjoy the countryside. The house is an old cottage but has all mod cons including good Wi fi for those who just can't do without. You are not that far away from more lively places if so inclined. We were an elderly couple with 2 elderly dogs and we absolutely loved it. Beaches or shops and castles are all within easy reach. Would highly recommend if you want to get away from it all.

Lovely cottage, remote so if you’re after a quiet relaxing break, this is the cottage for you. Beautiful area but a drive is required to get to the nearest shop (approx 4 miles) for milk etc. There has been a road closure since last year which meant a detour every time but not anyone’s fault. Cottage was lovely and very welcoming, flowers and biscuits on arrival were a lovely touch. Everything we needed was provided. Village of Dunster was beautiful and well worth a visit along with the Castle. Dunster beach was lovely for my dog, another worthwhile visit. Lovely forest for dog walks etc just up from the cottage as well. Overall, a lovely cottage and amenities, beautiful area, would visit again as a lovely quiet relaxing stay.
