Brixham has a long standing maritime history and the harbour remains the heart of it, offering visitors a choice of boat trips from relaxing tours, fishing trips and a regular foot ferry across the bay to the resort town of Torquay. There are several beaches within easy reach, including Shoalstone beach with its tidal pool, the town s main Breakwater beach and the quiet St Marys Bay. Other attractions and places of interest in the area include the historic naval city of Plymouth, Exeter, famed for its stunning cathedral and shopping, The Princess Theatre, Paignton Zoo, Dartmoor National Park, Kent s Cavern, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Torre Abbey and numerous National Trust properties.
