Guests say

The Coach House in Chippenham is highly praised for its cleanliness, peaceful location, and welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage, comfortable amenities, and the secure garden. The rural setting offers a tranquil retreat with beautiful night skies and proximity to natural attractions. The presence of animals adds charm, and the welcome pack is a delightful touch.

Guests consistently mention the cleanliness of the cottage, describing it as well-kept and tidy, which indicates a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is appreciated for its peace and quiet, with a working farm setting that offers a serene environment. However, some guests note it is a bit of a drive to reach other places.

The cottage is frequently described as cosy and comfortable, with a secure garden and lovely views. However, there is a mention of flat pillows, suggesting a slight room for improvement in comfort.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and a wood burner. However, there are comments about rough roads approaching the property and signage that could be improved.

The hosts are noted for their thoughtfulness, particularly with the welcome pack. While this is a positive aspect, it is important to note that such gestures, though appreciated, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

The Granary (ref W43949) is a spacious barn and has been restored, taking care to use many of the original features and characteristics of its original life as a granary – the beams, the grain bag pulley system and other unknown objects have been put to good use. Both The Coach House (ref 15661) and Hog Pits (ref 18961) are all on one level and have a cosy wood burner. They all have an enclosed garden with lovely views over the countryside. The chickens and pigs (currently no pigs) are a delight to watch in their free-range enclosures. This is the perfect holiday base from which to explore the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer – just 5 miles from the M4 yet in a completely rural setting. There are many footpaths and cycle routes in the surrounding area, with the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal towpaths also nearby. Within a short drive are the picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe, both favourite locations for TV and film directors. Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse.

Chippenham is an old market town with good shopping facilities and Devizes is on the Kennet and Avon canal with the famous Caen locks. Bradford on Avon is often referred to as a ‘mini Bath’ with splendid Georgian architecture and a bustling community. The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must-visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and an adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles. Properties 15661, 18961 and W43949 can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.
