We had a lovely stay at Cherry. Great enclosed Garden for our wee dog who loved it. Everything you need and more for your stay, even fresh veg and fruit from the owners. Had one specific objective for the visit and that was to see HMS Ganges for the last time.

A beautiful, spacious cottage in a blissful location. Wonderful garden with views over the Orwell estuary. Loads of great walks from the doorstep. Lovely, kind, welcoming owners.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful and peaceful setting. Views from the back of the house over nothing but fields to the River Orwell. It was lovely to sit at the bottom of the garden and just listen to the birdsong. Owners are friendly and live next door should you need anything without being intrusive. Lounge furniture not the comfiest but we weren't in there too much for it to be a major issue. Shotley is on a peninsula between the Rivers Orwell and Stour giving access to local walks. There is also a foot ferry from Shotley Gate to Harwich and Felixstowe for other days out without the car. Buses into Ipswich are about every 90 minutes but finish around 6pm.There are 2 pubs in Shotley Gate and 1 in Shotley but check opening hours as they close either all day a couple of days or some afternoons. The local vineyard tour is worth doing, only 15 minute walk.
