This delightful hideaway for two is set in the historic conservation area of Eye, a pretty market town surrounded by unspoiled countryside. The property, once a coach house, has been skilfully refurbished to create a luxurious retreat while retaining lovely period features such as exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling. Eye has independent shops, restaurants, cafes and a pub serving food, all within 0.5 miles. There are lovely walks around the town, with picturesque villages nearby, while Diss, another lively market town, is just 4 miles away.
The property is beautifully furnished in shades of blue, offset by white walls. Enter your secluded bolthole through the original stable door, with iron latches, into the spacious open-plan living/kitchen/dining area. This houses a sumptuous corner sofa, a pretty dining table and a contemporary kitchen, with double doors opening to the stable courtyard. Upstairs, the former hay loft is now a gorgeous, light and airy king-size bedroom with exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling. A streamlined shower room completes the layout. Outside, a small open courtyard with original stable block paving has patio furniture.
Eye has lots to see and enjoy picturesque castle ruins, a magnificent medieval church, and a beautiful nature reserve where you can walk through water meadows along the banks of the River Dove. Stock up at local shops, which include a chocolatier and delicatessen, and head to Thornam Walks (4 miles). The network of paths through beautiful parkland and ancient woodland includes a picnic area, a walled garden and a memory wood. Further afield, Wyken Vineyard (13.5 miles) is a 1,200-acre farm with a country store, farmers’ market and wonderful gardens., plus an excellent restaurant, housed in a restored, 400-year-old barn.
Mr Johnson
The Coach House was lovely. It is well furnished, welcoming and has everything you need for a luxurious holiday. From the delicious welcome goodies to the high quality fixtures, fittings and furniture, it was truly a treat to stay here. It is also the ideal base from which to explore the delights Suffolk has to offer. Thoroughly recommended.
Mr Small
WE were lucky to find this property available when we wanted to visit this area. It had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. It is a very nice area of the country to explore.
Mr Wingate
Every thing about The Coach House is top end, could not find anything it did not have, and was very comfortable. We had a lovely relaxing time, I would recommend it.
