About this property

The Texel shepherd hut sleeps two, plus two small children. Fully equipped and decorated with a chicken theme, this shepherd hut is nestled among the trees on the outskirts of our spacious campsite at Dawn Chorus.

Texel includes a fully equipped, bespoke kitchen area with integrated fridge-freezer, oven, kettle, toaster, and two-stove hob.

The hut has a pull-out table and two stools, with another two stools provided when there are children.

This unit is well insulated and includes an electric heater and heated towel rail. Texel has a luxury en-suite with shower.

The bed is a standard double with luxury bedding and a wool duvet designed to keep you cool when the weather’s warm, and lovely and warm when temperatures are cooler. Above the bed are two small bunk beds that can be pulled down. No children over 110 cm, please.

The Texel has its own private outdoor seating area with barbecue/fire pit.

The Texel does take well behaved pets, that keep of the bed.

Dawn Chorus Holidays is set on a farm in the countryside surrounding Beccles, in the Waveney Valley.  It offers unique accommodations in African-style tents and traditional-style shepherd's huts, each with a private bathroom and electrical sockets. 

Opening onto a covered porch area, each tent reflects the design of a safari lodge with wooden floors and a vaulted canvas roof.  With sleeping areas, the tents include a wood burning stove and a kitchen area with an electric hob and kitchenware.  The tents have running water, and bed linen and towels are provided. 

The shepherd's hut-style lodges feature a caravan-like design with wooden features and a stable door.  Each has modern comforts, with private bathrooms and a kitchen. 

The surrounding Suffolk countryside is ideal for fishing and hiking, and staff at Dawn Chorus can help you to arrange bike rental.  The property offers easy access to the Norfolk border and Southern Broads. 

Southwold, Lowestoft and the coast can be reached within 25 minutes by car.  Norwich and Great Yarmouth are within 20 miles.

Meet the Owners

BOB & helen

Hi, our names are Bob & Helen. We were originally from Essex, met in Young Farmers and married in 1991. Bob’s family owned a dairy farm with sheep and pigs.

I trained as a chef working in various kitchens and when our children came along, Hannah and Ollie, I did some out-side catering. Now my passion is the holiday lets. In my spare time I love walking our three dogs, short breaks away, socialising and skiing.

Bob still loves looking after the animals and making sure they are all kept to high welfare standards. His passions are also walking the dogs, entertaining and skiing.

Hannah and Ollie are still living at home, at the moment, both are in the farming industry. Hannah is a buyer of potatoes and Ollie is agriculture engineer.

We are a small working farm with chickens, sheep, cows and pigs.

Our Glamping Site is set in its own large field; the two safari tents and three shepherds are all very well spaced out with their own individual BBQ. Each self-contained unit, some of which are dog friendly, is beautifully furnished with a private bathroom and kitchen. Ideal for couples, families or a large group of friends to book the whole site. Please remember this is not a party site and we ask you to be quiet after 10pm.

You can collect your own eggs, see the farm animals at close range, listen to the wildlife or just sit by the camp fire and watch the stars. We also have a selection of outdoor toys.

WHAT TO DO

Our site is idyllically located and is surrounded by a hive of activities and tourist hotspots. Only 2 miles from the popular town of Beccles guests can find the popular Beccles lido swimming pool, high street shopping with plenty of independent shops and supermarkets. You are also only a short drive from the Suffolk coast with many beaches to explore and enjoy. Or why not stay on the farm and enjoy the animals and beautiful countryside right on your doorstep.    There are also three circular walks from our site ranging in miles as well as cycle routes nearby ideal for guests looking for an active holiday.

We are also ideal located for the latitude festival which is only a 20 minutes’ drive away.
