Guests say

Buttercross Cottage receives high praise for its comfort, cleanliness, and prime location in the charming village of Abbots Bromley. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like welcome baskets. The adjacent Antlers cafe is a bonus for delightful breakfasts. Some guests mention low beams and shared courtyard nuances, but overall, the cottage offers a cosy and welcoming stay.

Most guests find the cottage to be very clean and well-maintained, with fresh towels and a welcoming atmosphere. However, a few reviews mention areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as unwashed pans and dusty surfaces, slightly lowering the score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local amenities, including pubs, cafes, and walking routes. The village's friendly community and historical charm add to the appeal, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.

Guests consistently report a very comfortable stay, with special mentions of the large double bed and cosy living space. The presence of a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful interior touches contribute to the overall comfort. The low beams present a minor inconvenience for taller guests.

The cottage is well-equipped with a range of facilities that guests appreciate, including a range master oven and secure courtyard. Some guests note issues with the shower size and shared courtyard dynamics, which impacts the score slightly.

Many guests express gratitude for the thoughtful welcome baskets and other considerate touches like toiletries and dog treats. While these gifts are highly appreciated, it is noted that such offerings are subject to change and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

On arrival we learned that the cottage was literally next to the cafe, and the garden area was busy with school children and parents. Extremely difficult to get your dogs and luggage through. We didn't have great weather but had it been sunny the noise from the cafe area would have concerned me during the day. The cafe did serve a really lovely breakfast. The garden area was extremely small, especially for three dogs. We did however find some nice walks.

Had we known her findings, we probably would have gone elsewhere. Photos #1&2 of the cottage are misleading and should be replaced. They give the impression that this is the garden, matching the description: has ‘garden / patio’ and ‘Side courtyard with patio, gravelled area and furniture’. All a good choice for dog owners, but this is in fact incorrect. During the day, the small patio next to the double doors was our only private area. The low wall and gate surrounding the patio have been improved with the addition of a taller gate and wooden fence possibly following a previous visitor comment for dog security and privacy. Everywhere else was the café garden and the patio outside the main entrance was a main thoroughfare for staff and customers to access the garden. It would be truer to say that the cottage was sited within the café garden, with no other access available to reach the cottage/parking space. The black gate shown could not be used. We had occasional customer noise on the warmer days, and closed the kitchen and sitting room curtains when necessary for privacy. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The café staff where extremely accommodating and pleasant, particularly when they served our lunch on our patio, when their tables were full!
