The Hovel, once used as a shelter for the sheep in the surrounding fields, is now a stunning retreat for two. This barn conversion (completed in 2021) enjoys exposed beams, high ceilings and high-quality fixtures and fittings. The open plan kitchen, dining and living area has been thoughtfully designed and features a beautiful full-length window down one side and is well equipped with everything you need during your stay.
Step up to the patio where you can really enjoy the far-reaching views of the Burton Dassett Hills and surrounding countryside with the sheep keeping you company, and with the lambs bouncing around the fields in spring. The village of Fenny Compton is just a short walk away and is a bustling village community with 2 pubs and a village shop. Sandwiched between the beautiful Burton Dassett Hills, the perfect country park for walks, flying a kite or eating a picnic whilst admiring the views of rolling hills and open countryside and Oxford Canal where you can enjoy watching the narrowboats sail by and lovely walks along the tow path. Located close to both the market town of Banbury and Royal Leamington Spa where you can visit the many high street and independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
The National Trust property of Farnborough Hall is just over 2 1/2 miles away and opens a couple of days a week during the summer months. Approximately a 10-minute drive will take you to the edge of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and meandering through the country roads, you’ll soon see why. Approximately half an hours’ drive will take you to either Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick with its famous castle, Bicester Village, famous for its shopping village, the Cotswold towns of Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold or Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace.

The Hovel by name only. Well thought our barn conversion. Very quiet location with only the sheep for neighbours. Motor museum well worth a visit plus Warwick. Banbury a little disappointing, run down shopping area with many empty units.

A beautiful accommodation that had everything we needed for our holiday. Nice local pubs and food shops. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Very comfortable bed and pillows.

A well equipped rural holiday base handy for Stratford , Warwick , Motor museum and much more. A comfortable property with good cooking and shower facilities and a comfortable bed. Mark and Catherine, the owners, are not far away and take pains to make sure there are no problems eg bringing a new fan within a couple of hours of being told the existing fan was out of action, it wasnt a big issue but it was dealt with quickly. We ate a couple of times at the Merrie Lion in Fenny , less than 10 minutes on foot, the food is top notch. Also do pay heed to Catherines advice on local roads, the Satnav will lead you along difficult narrow roads, her guidance is spot on. All in all , this was a great holiday and well worth a further visit in a year or two and we look forward to coming back again.
