About this property

Tucked away on the outskirts of Defford, Worcestershire is this romantic barn conversion, The Old Piggery. A detached property with ground-floor living and surrounded by countryside, this charming dwelling is brimming with character and offers easy access to two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds; a romantic spot for two to get away from it all! Park in the off-road parking before stepping into the open-plan living space with a vaulted ceiling and original, exposed beams. This bright, sociable space has a breakfast bar for two and a fully equipped kitchen, sure to please any budding chef, with an electric oven and hob, built-in microwave, and a dishwasher. You'll also find a utility area with a fridge/freezer and a washing machine ready to go after busy days exploring the countryside. When it's time to relax, locate the snug sitting area to sink into the sofa and watch the Smart TV. Just next door you'll find the bedroom with a sumptuous king-size bed, plenty of storage space, and a stylish, contemporary en-suite shower room with a spacious walk-in shower to freshen up before the day ahead. In the mornings, savour a cup of coffee in the front patio, a sunny spot to plan your itinerary, whilst the large, rear garden is a secluded sanctuary to picnic on the lawn or dine alfresco! You'll also find country walks leading right from your doorstep, with plenty of idyllic scenery to explore nearby, including Tiddesley Wood and the 18th-century Croome, the National Trust's restored house surrounded by landscaped gardens. The village of Defford has everything you need for a self-catering stay, including Revills Farm Shop and Cafe, the Defford Arms, and The Flybridge at Defford Marina when you don't fancy cooking. The market town of Pershore is a short drive away where Pershore Abbey, Avon Meadows, and the nearby Vale Golf & Country Club ensure a wonderful day out! On your way to trek the Malvern Hills AONB, stop off at the picturesque Upton upon Severn with the curious Tudor House Museum, or perhaps you'll visit Great Malvern to stroll around Great Malvern Priory and Priory Park, followed by a sweet treat at St Ann’s Well Café. For a change of pace, the cathedral city of Worcester has plenty to see and do, whilst the large town of Cheltenham sits picture-perfect on the edge of the Cotswolds. A romantic break in Worcestershire awaits at The Old Piggery.

Defford is a small village on the edge of Bredon Hill in Worcestershire's Heritage Garden, one of England's most unspoiled places, known for its Blossom Trail and locally grown fruit and vegetables. A short drive away is Pershore, a beautiful market town on the River Avon with Georgian buildings, a mediaeval Abbey, and several shops, restaurants, and traditional inns. Upton on Severn, a riverside village with a thriving marina, half-timbered buildings, music and water festivals, and a popular local vineyard, is close by.

Beautifully presented, very comfortable and in a lovely peaceful location. Very convenient to some excellent local pubs/restaurants too. We loved staying there and hope to return. Highly recommend.

The cottage was very comfortable with a lovely outlook and garden. Tara and Paul were on hand should we need them and the welcome pack with homemade bread, eggs, local milk and other treats was great. Our cockerpoo loved the garden and walks at nearby Croome Court. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
