Hopton Court is located on the entire second floor of the Grade II listed Hopton Court House, is the ideal gathering place for family and friends to relax in the tranquil surroundings of the countryside. Built in 1776, the estate team work hard to preserve Hopton Court's heritage.
The winding stairs lead you to the apartment on the second floor; on your left, the well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a home cooked meal with modern appliances. Gather around the farmhouse style dining table, and enjoy views of the estate.
At the end of the hallway, the bright and airy sitting room makes the ideal place to unwind after a day of exploring. Relax on the comfortable sofa's whilst watching television, or take in the views looking across the large lake from the windows.
The apartment enjoys three bedrooms; bedroom one with a 5' king-size bed and large en-suite bathroom. Bedroom two enjoys the flexibility of twin 2'5 single beds which can be configured into a 5' king-size bed on request, and an en-suite bathroom. Bedroom three has a 4'6 double and has use of the family bathroom. All bedrooms have been thoughtfully decorated with beautiful finishing touches throughout.
Outside, enjoy the rural views on the terrace whilst enjoying your morning coffee, and explore the estate's grounds and spend time in nature.
Guests enjoy access of all the grounds, perfect for walking the dogs!

Please note, there are steep winding stairs to access the apartment with a total of 35 steps.
The large lake is not fenced off, please keep an eye on children at all times.
Guests are welcome to fish in the lake, please let the owners know.
The lake is home to many carp.
Guests have access to explore the estate grounds.
Please note, shoot days will be taking place on the estate during the shooting season.

We are Ana and Alejandro, two mid-career professionals at the University of Oxford and Charlotte’s first Rural Retreat guests. We stayed in the apartment for two weeks in late December 2025, accompanied by our two Border Collies. It was a wonderful, quiet break. The apartment is gorgeous and spacious. Most of it has been beautifully and recently redone, and everything works as expected. It feels cosy, even on cold days, and every room has a splendid view. We particularly enjoyed walking around the Hopton grounds—vast and beautiful, and easy to navigate thanks to Charlotte’s guidance—as well as walking to nearby towns such as Cleobury, along mostly empty country roads, and hiking up Titterstone Clee Hill. Although we did not have a car, getting around was easy on foot, by taking the 292 bus, or using Uber Pet. Ludlow is well worth a visit. It has a charming castle and a great selection of restaurants, pubs (in particular, the Rose and Crown), and shops. The Crown Inn, a pub within walking distance, offers excellent food and a warm atmosphere. It was open on most days over Christmas, and we celebrated both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve there. The people in the area are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Most of them are friends with Charlotte. Just before sunset each evening, an immense flock of birds would gather and circle the house before settling in the surrounding trees—a truly magical sight. Finally, Charlotte was a terrific host: attentive, generous, and always ready to help. On one occasion, she even drove us to buy groceries. This place is a real gem, and we very much hope to return.
