Next stop is Haworth, well-known for its connection to the famous Bronte sisters, here you can tour the Bronte Parsonage Museum, sample local ales at the Wuthering Heights pub, dine at The Bronte, enjoy leisurely strolls through Penistone Hill Country Park, or hike over to the picturesque Bronte Waterfall. Keen walkers can also access the renowned Bronte Way which spans from Oxenhope to Keighley. Further afield, you’ll find Skipton, home to a remarkable castle, a bustling weekly market, Raven Tree Top Adventure and the annual Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival held in July. Your journey to the Dales begins at Bronte Cottage.

Oakworth, a little Pennine village near Haworth that overlooks the Worth Valley, shot to fame when E.E. Nesbitt's The Railway Children was adapted into a great 1970 film. Oakworth is conveniently located near both Haworth and the moors, and it also boasts a beautiful ornamental park and quick access to Keighley. The nearby town of Haworth was the home of the literary Bront sisters, who found plenty of material for their works in the area's expansive moorland. Against the backdrop of the countryside made famous in the novel Wuthering Heights, Haworth is home to a plethora of curiosity and antique shops, lanes, and cobblestone streets that create a great historical ambiance. The old village of Oxenhope is not far away, and the Worth Valley Railway, a genuine steam railway made famous by the film The Railway Children, provides for a delightful day trip. The Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail are just a few of the many popular attractions in the neighbourhood. Skipton, known as the "Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales," is only a short drive away. Similarly close by are Harrogate's magnificent Victorian architecture, as well as the modern energy of both Leeds and Manchester.

However, there are two problems with the description of Bronte Cottage. 1. The description of facilities said there is Wi-Fi. There is no Wi-Fi. Had I known that I would not have booked. I would like a partial refund for the inconvenience that caused me. 2. The “patio and garden” was also untrue. There was a dirty and crumbling concreted area behind the cottage accessed by a path around the adjacent property and by steps. The 2 seats and the table were in a very poor state as was the fence around the area. I suspect that if someone leant against the fence they would find themselves quickly fallen 10 feet or more to the field below!

Smells of damp from a leak in cupboard housing washing machine and electrics. No smart TV/ sky, garden, patio or outside furniture which were all in the advertisement for this cottage. Internet intermittent with no connection most of the time. Shower seal disgusting and needs replacement. Baking tins only fit for the dustbin. The bathroom needs a deep clean. The advert is completely misleading. I will be making a formal complaint with copies to Yorkshire tourist board. I would advise anyone to book elsewhere.

Small general maintenance required . This wasn't enough to spoil the holiday but some TLC needed to smarten the cottage up
