About this property

Cononley Cottage is one of five pretty cottages resting beside the old pub and train station in Cononley, North Yorkshire offering easy access to many locations, as well as close by pubs. Boasting pet-friendly accommodation, close proximity to the local amenities and access to the stunning delights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this lovely abode is ideal for a family, friends, or two couples looking for an adventure-filled getaway. Be welcomed into a characterful property boasting charming décor and stylish furniture, discovering a tasteful sitting room with grey sofas for guests to recline in whilst warming their feet beside the woodburning stove, settled into an exposed-brick fireplace. The kitchen/diner houses a wealth of amenities, ideal for cooking up a storm, as well as well-thought-out interior and a contemporary feel, and here there is also a breakfast bar for guests to dine at. Alternatively, head out into the courtyard when the sun is shining and dine alfresco, sinking back into the garden furniture with a cold tipple of your choice in hand. When sleep calls, the bedrooms are beautifully-presented, with stylish furnishings and storage for your belongings, so choose between a king-size with a TV, and a double, both serviced by a shower room. Cononley is a tranquil village offering two local pubs, The Railway Inn and the New Inn, a convenience store for all of your holiday essentials, and a train station with great links to Shipley, Keighley, Bradford, Leeds, and Skipton. For more eateries, pubs, and a convenience store, head over to Cross Hills, and from here, discover the bustling town of Keighley with walks through Cliffe Castle Park, around Cliffe Castle, and in the opposite direction, find Skipton, where guests can visit Skipton Castle, walk through Skipton Castle Woods, explore the shops and museum, or try out a game of golf at the local course. From here, enjoy walks through the Nidderdale AONB and the incredible scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, ideal for birdwatching, hiking, and mountain biking. Places to visit include Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss, and Stump Cross Caverns, whilst the Forest of Bowland AONB is also within easy reach. All of this and so much more is on offer with a stay at the lovely Cononley Cottage.

The attractive village of Cononley lies in Airedale, four miles south of Skipton. The village's 17th Century heritage is still visible in some of the buildings, with an even greater number remaining from the villages heyday as a 19th Century centre for hand loom weaving and lead mining. There are two pubs and a mainline railway station with links to Leeds, Skipton and the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line. Nearby Skipton, known as "The Gateway to the Dales", has an ancient castle, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway or the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Close for train station, shop and local pub. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. We would recommend staying here and would certainly return.

Very cosy, fully equipped and a good location. The finishing touches and welcome package were a lovely bonus. Previous guests had made suggestions (like hooks on the front door) and these had all been actioned within days which shows the attentiveness of the host. The railway pub a few doors down was perfect to watch the rugby (small quiet pub though), for a quick snack and very dog friendly and for a really lovely meal out where dogs are welcome is the The Bull at Broughton. Apart from the weather we had a wonderful weekend away. I would highly recommend this little get away.
