Moorside Cottage is a cosy and comfortable retreat in the Yorkshire Dales, appreciated for its cleanliness, warm welcome, and thoughtful touches like fresh eggs and honey. Its location offers stunning views and proximity to local attractions, though some guests noted road noise. The cottage is well-equipped for a relaxing stay, with a log fire and a newly refurbished kitchen, although a few guests mentioned the lack of a freezer and minor maintenance issues.
Guests generally found the cottage to be very clean, with fresh-smelling towels and linen. There was a single mention of the fridge needing a clean, but this seems to be an isolated comment rather than a common concern.
The cottage's location is praised for its beautiful views and proximity to walking areas and local attractions. However, several guests mentioned the road noise as a downside, which impacts the tranquillity expected from a countryside location.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be comfortable and cosy, with a warm welcome and a comfortable bed. There were a few comments about the road noise and a spring mattress causing discomfort for one guest.
The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen utensils, a good size television, and a wood burner. Some guests suggested the addition of a freezer compartment and mentioned minor maintenance issues like the need for brighter bulbs and a fire ready to light.
Guests were delighted with the thoughtful touches such as fresh eggs, honey, and welcome gifts. While these gifts greatly enhanced their experience, it should be noted that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.
Haworth 1.6 miles. A 17th century, stone-built semi-detached cottage, situated between Oxenhope and Haworth in lovely Bronte Country. An ideal cottage for a romantic break to the country, as the cottage is set amongst the wild and rugged Bronte countryside and a good walk from the ever popular Haworth. This cottage has been carefully preserved to retain its historic character, combining the old with the new. A spacious open plan living area greets new arrivals, with exposed stonework and old beams alongside a warming woodburning stove, contemporary furnishings and a modern bespoke kitchen which all combine to ensure a great stay. The main bedroom is spacious and enjoys good views of the surrounding countryside and there's also a modern, well-equipped bathroom. Outside, there is a small patio where you can sit out and enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine, perhaps enjoying a refreshing drink after a hard day out on nearby Top Withens, made famous in the Wuthering Heights novel. There are numerous walks from the doorstep, including one that takes you to the nearby pub with its own well-known brewery. Walk across meadowland, woodland and down the road to Oxenhope station, where visitors can enjoy a ride on a nostalgic steam train. Haworth has much to offer, including the famous high street and the Parsonage Museum amongst many other attractions. The market town of Hebden Bridge is nearby, and within reach is Skipton with its cobbled streets and delightful castle. Further afield is the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, boasting fabulous shops, an excellent theatre and the Royal Pump Room Museum. A lovely holiday home, just right for that promised break in the Dales.
The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren.
