About this property

A superb 16th century detached stone-built barn farmhouse, set on the owner's farm and equestrian centre, three miles from Hebden Bridge. Lovingly restored, this cottage is full of character, and seamlessly combines many original features such as exposed stonework with modern, contemporary design and furnishings. The cottage has a delightful sitting room with a warm and cosy woodburning stove, a first-class shaker-style kitchen, and three lovely bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and one is on the ground floor. Set on a high hillside with wonderful views a short walk away from the property, and excellent walks in every direction, this is a wonderful cottage. Lively Hebden Bridge is just down the road, with its interesting nightlife, curiosity shops and the 'old cinema' where they serve tea and scones at the interval. Enjoy walks from the doorstep across the Brontes' beloved moors, visit the village of Heptonstall with its two historic pubs, or explore the home of the Bronte sisters in nearby Haworth. With the bustling town of Skipton also within an easy drive, this is a superb cottage at any time of the year.

Hebden Bridge is a small town in the Pennines, in the Calderdale area. The Rochdale canal runs through the town, which is a great base for enjoying the excellent walking on offer on the nearby Pennine Way, NT Hardcastle Crags and over the moors to Haworth, famed for its associations with the literary Bronte sisters. Visit Skipton town, the Gateway to the Dales, or the Eureka Museum in Halifax, or simply settle in to watch the steam trains on the Worth Valley Railway. A terrific base for this varied part of Yorkshire.

The owners, Chris and Andy were very attentive and on hand if we needed them. The welcome package of treats and the provision of toiletries were superb and the property warm and very comfortable. It was spaciouus and suited our three generational group very well. We loved the rural location and enjoyed exploring the area, in particular Hebdon Bridge, Hardcastle Crags and the Piece Hall in Halifax.

A warm generous welcome from Andy and Chris including Easter goodies and basics. Loved seeing the horses in the next door stables. The cottage was immaculate, very warm cosy and comfortable for the 5 of us gathered from North and South. Everything you might need was provided including great Wi-Fi, Wood burner and en suites to every bedroom which was luxurious. We enjoyed walking straight up onto the moors from the cottage and the short stroll to the Shepherds Rest pub where we had a delicious Easter Sunday Lunch. Other highlights were visits to Hebden Bridge independent shops, Heptonstall for Sylvia Plath’s Grave, cobbled streets and the Cross Inn Pub. Great walks in wild weather to the Bride Stones and Hard Castle Crags. The covered, market at Todmorden had great range of food stalls with 2 proper old fashioned butchers fare including fabulous steamed meat puddings and pork pies. We’d love to go again sometime.

Also gives the impression the cottage has views but there are none other than the hedge and another property. The living room isn’t warm enough without having the wood burner going all the time. Took 4 hours + for the heating to warm from 18 to 22 but still felt very chilly. Oven switches very greasy and all in all the whole property could do with a good deep clean. The radiator in the main bedroom is either off or on. Very disappointed as if the weather not good like to relax but could not do this comfortably here
