Nestled on the northern fringes of the Forest of Bowland, just off the outskirts of Austwick and the limestone scars of the Yorkshire Dales, is Orcaber Farm Retreat. Head into the lounge, on return from a long walk through heather-clad moors and windswept valleys and relax on the sumptuous sofa in front of the fabulous woodburning stove, taking centre stage on one side of the room. This open-plan living space also showcases a modern, well-equipped kitchen for you to prepare home-cooked meals together and dine at the table for two over a delicious bottle of wine.

The décor is light and neutral and there are picture frames to brighten up your day, with images of the local area. Catch up on your day and make the most of an evening in before retiring to the super king-size double bedroom. Indulge with a hot soak in the stunning, freestanding bath tub, tucked into one corner of the room, or head into the en-suite for a refreshing shower before heading to bed. You also have plenty of storage to stow away your belongings and a dressing table to get ready at each morning, as well as bedside tables and considered lighting.

Sit out on a balmy afternoon in the enclosed garden and watch the world go by with a refreshing drink in hand, as a horse greets you at the fence from the stable opposite. Head into the cosy village of Austwick and enjoy a night off from the cooking for a change by paying a visit to the local pub, serving home-cooked food. Set off the beaten track, you have access to many rural corners hosting a wealth of walking and cycling trails enveloped by stunning landscape scenery. Other attractions in the area include Ingleborough Cave, close to the village of Clapham with guided tours, the well-known, circular Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, along with Malham Cove, Janet's Foss and Gordale Scar.

Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this is arguably one of the finest areas for walking in the region. With limestone pavements and scars, caves and open moors, the area has a wealth of natural interest and there are wonderful cycle tracks and walks on the doorstep. Austwick boasts a local pub serving excellent home cooked meals and a country hotel for something a little more special, as well as a shop and Post Office for visitors’ daily requirements. This quiet village is nicely off the beaten track, yet the market towns of Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale, Skipton and Kendal are all within easy driving distance.
