The estate itself is a joy to explore, with 1.3km of scenic walking trails weaving through the grounds and access to the beautifully maintained walled gardens. The ongoing restoration of Langbaurgh Hall and its outbuildings is being carried out with great care and respect for its rich past, preserving its legacy while inviting guests to experience a unique piece of Yorkshire’s heritage.

Coach House has been thoughtfully renovated to retain its original character, with exposed stonework and striking beamed ceilings, while seamlessly incorporating stylish, modern comforts. Generously sized and ideal for families or groups of friends, the property offers a welcoming and sociable layout. On the ground floor, a spacious open-plan lounge and dining area is centred around a cosy wood-burning stove and filled with natural light from glass doors on both the north and south sides. Step outside to your private patio and outdoor dining area, with steps leading up to the communal walled garden, while a shared courtyard can be accessed from the opposite side.

Inside, a second dining space sits alongside the well-equipped contemporary kitchen, perfect for relaxed meals and gatherings, and a convenient ground floor WC adds to the practicality of the space. Upstairs, you’ll find three beautifully presented double bedrooms. Two are generous doubles, while the third is a slightly smaller queen room, complete with its own en suite walk-in shower. A modern family shower room completes the accommodation.

Great Ayton itself is a charming and well-served village, offering a variety of independent shops, welcoming pubs, cafés, and restaurants. Rich in history, it is known as the childhood home of Captain James Cook, with attractions including the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum and a monument dedicated to his legacy. The village green, with the River Leven flowing gently through it and its iconic stepping stones, provides a quintessential setting for a leisurely afternoon.

For those keen to explore further, the surrounding area offers an abundance of opportunities. The distinctive peak of Roseberry Topping is just a short distance away, rewarding walkers with panoramic views, while the Cleveland Way National Trail passes nearby, guiding you across the moors and down to the breathtaking Yorkshire coastline.

Within easy driving distance, you’ll find a selection of charming coastal destinations. Saltburn-by-the-Sea offers a traditional seaside experience with its Victorian pier and cliff lift, Staithes captivates with its narrow streets and artistic heritage, and Whitby enchants visitors with its rich maritime history, sandy beaches, and the iconic abbey overlooking the town.

Whether you’re planning a relaxing countryside break, an active walking holiday, or a coastal adventure, Coach House at Langbaurgh Hall provides a spacious, characterful, and memorable base in one of North Yorkshire’s most beautiful settings.

We had a great week at the Coach house, and can highly recommend staying here,we met Will who was an excellent host and had recently renovated the property. The accommodation was very good and suited our needs, good walk in showers in the 2 bathrooms, beds were comfortable and it was very nice to sit outside each night on the patio looking at the garden. We particularly enjoyed the 1.3km trail around the estate, it is easily walkable and well maintained,we walked it every evening and found it very relaxing. The Coach house is in a good location, we walked to the local pub which was 20 mins away( The Buck ) to sit outside and have dinner by the river, where we tried the local specialty Parmo, which was very good.We also walked to the top of Roseberry topping from the Coach house, a 5.7 mile round trip which was well worth doing as the views are spectacular!Stokesley is only a 3 miles away with several restaurants and shops, we had dinner there sitting outside at a nice Italian restaurant (il Mulino)Whitby was 35 minutes drive to the park and ride on very good roads, had to have dinner at the Magpie restaurant of course!Robin Hood’s Bay was a further 10 minutes past Whitby, lots of little shops and cafes and narrow alleyways to walk around.Saltburn on sea is only 20 minutes away from the Coach house, and Guisborough is 10 minutes away with plenty of large supermarkets ( Marks & Spencer’s food hall, Sainsbury’s,Morrisons etc)We went fossil hunting at Marske-by-the- Sea, 20 minutes away and 4 hrs free parking on sea front, lots of fossils found! Also there are 2 National Trust properties within a 20 minute drive, Mount Grace Priory, House and Gardens and Ormesby Hall.Had to return home for a rest!!

We had a lovely time. The property is clean and fresh set in beautiful grounds. Great location for day trips to amazing places. The owner Will was very attentive and friendly. We couldn't of asked for more and would happily return again.
