Skipton 4 miles. A tasteful stone barn conversion located on a working farm, The Barn lies just on the southern cusp of Yorkshire Dales National Park. With sweeping 270 degree views over rolling farmland, almost every view from your windows is a picture postcard to be savoured. Set over two floors, this property sleeps six comfortably with oodles of living space. Through the main ground floor entrance, you’re greeted by a large dining/living room with formal dining seating for six, plus a settee for lounging and a table tennis area for kids (and kids at heart). A handy cloakroom with basin and WC adds convenience. Off of this large, multi-purpose room is a well-proportioned kitchen with a range of appliances and a separate breakfast table. Off of the kitchen is a generously sized sitting room with sofas and chairs, TV, DVD players, books and games. What you’ll first notice though is the breath-taking views outside your windows. Rolling farmland hills full of sheep and lambs – so close you could almost touch them! Up a staircase off the sitting room is access to a beamed landing that takes you to three comfortable bedrooms; a master double bedroom with en-suite, two bedrooms with two twin beds apiece, plus a family bathroom with a bath, basin and WC. Just outside the main entrance is a large courtyard laid to stone, suitable for parking two to three cars. Two raised stone decks also give options on catching the sun, outside dining or enjoying the countryside and fresh air. The Barn also overlooks Chelker Reservoir, only 0.3 miles to the east. Nearby points of interest are the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and Bolton Abbey, just 3.1 and 4.7 miles away by car respectively. Skipton and Ilkley are only a short car ride away. If that wasn’t enough, the area abounds in some of the most challenging and scenic cycle routes in the country - the Tour de Yorkshire is a popular event in every cycling enthusiast’s calendar. And if cycling doesn’t get your wheels turning, there is plenty of golf courses within 10 miles or less, walking trails, geocaching, fishing and more – an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.
Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008 the Academy of Urbanism voted the High Street the best shopping spot in Britain, and The Copper Dragon/Greyhawk Brewery is highly rated in the camra listings
