About this property

Bay Horse Farm is a Grade II Listed semi-detached farmhouse, formerly an old coaching inn, situated on the edge of Skipton in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Boasting a character interior with stunning countryside views and an abundance of animals on-site, this welcoming farmhouse is the perfect base for a get together with friends and family. Allow the designated chef to become acquainted in the country-style kitchen, kitted out with all the appliances needed for a week away, whilst the adjacent dining room is the perfect spot for mealtimes together. Move into the lounge and kick back on the sofas, keeping warm by the woodburning stove as you discuss the holiday agenda, or escape to the snug for a quiet read. Venture up the wooden stairs to the first-floor, home to four neatly presented bedrooms, three of which benefit from en-suite facilities. Up another small flight of stairs leads to the mezzanine twin, built into the eaves of the roof and ideal room for children. Start the morning with a rinse in the bathroom before heading outside and getting some morning sunshine from the garden. Meet the adorable residents of the paddocks that are attached to the property, including a two Alpacas and George the Donkey. Explore the historic market town of Skipton with its cobbled streets, independent shops, and cafes, as well as the nearby Grassington, the quintessential Yorkshire village with its independent shops and charming tea rooms. Venture a little further to the bustling city of Harrogate, where you'll find an array of activities, from thermal spa experiences to theatre visits, restaurants, and some of the best shopping in Yorkshire. For a day of exploration, take a trip to the North York Moors and discover an array of outdoor activities, from hiking to cycling and horse riding, as well as the coastal towns of Scarborough and Whitby further afield. There’s something for everyone at Bay Horse Farm, so you’re sure to have an unforgettable stay. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1042331, together sleeping 15 guests.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!

The property is packed with old bits and bobs and original features like the stones floors, oak beams, open fires, old working range and yet has all the modern comforts - modern bathrooms, elec aga, super comfy beds/ linens, central heating etc. very spacious. What made it extra special were details like the very generous welcome pack inc 12 home laid eggs, Prosecco and large tin of M&S choc biscuits! And that each of the 3 open fires were set ready for a match which was amazing. We ate dinner alongside the range fire - so cosy. We sat in the kitchen around the warm aga chatting. Just perfect !

A good location with local walks. We were a Group of 9 friends and it suited us very well. Thank you

The resident alpacas, George the donkey, as well as Paul the sheep, also kept the grandchildren both amused and engaged. The facilities were absolutely perfect - well-appointed rooms, pre-set open fires, and a very spacious garden. Thank you!
