Accommodating up to 32 guests, each of the 17 bedrooms benefits from breath taking views of the hall’s formal gardens or natural landscape. Relax in one of the majestic drawing rooms, complete with stunning chandeliers, open fires, and a grand piano. The Red Drawing Room was used as a film location for Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. Each room makes a delightful space for a tailored event or private gathering. With stunning, ornate ceiling, the ante-room and billiards room is an ideal social space with full-size billiards table and Bose iPod dock. Also on display in this room is a remarkable 1920s dolls house made from cigar boxes by the current custodian’s grand-father – not one to be played with, however you can read about its history and creation whilst admiring every detail captured in miniature.

Bedrooms are available on the first and second floors, with most offering fabulously spacious en suite facilities, or benefit from having a separate bathroom close by. Each bedroom is individually styled and furnished creating a unique and relaxing space. Choose from the Oak Bedroom, hosting a fabulously carved Jacobean four-poster bed, wood-panelled walls, and an en suite with free-standing copper bath. The North Bedroom features an opulent carpet and a grand four-poster bed made by Gillows of Lancaster. The second floor is the Penthouse area which has bedrooms grouped together, and a living area complete with Sky TV, Playstation, DVD collection and DVD player, and a record player with records for you to choose from. Located directly opposite the main entrance across the lobby, the domed conservatory offers comfortable seating and floods the hall with natural light. Opening out to the formal gardens, the acres of countryside are a paradise for walkers, nature lovers, and those seeking to immerse themselves fully in Broughton Sanctuary. Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Broughton Sanctuary has been home to many production companies hosting numerous shoots throughout the hall and magnificent grounds, including Emily, Gentleman Jack, Ridley Road, and of course, All Creatures Great and Small, as the home of Mrs Pumphrey and her infamous dog Tricki Woo.

The staff are wonderful and look after their guests with an expertly discreet yet attentive manner. There’s no need to worry about stoking the fires or turning down your beds, as there will always be someone on hand to do that for you. There is no need to lift a finger during your stay with all your meals will be prepared by the head chef and his team. Enjoy a celebratory meal in the formal dining room, or host afternoon tea in a drawing room of your choice. This can all be booked prior to your arrival.

Rich with family history, Broughton Hall’s present owner, Roger Tempest is the 32nd generation. His sister, the cartoonist Annie Tempest, has used this childhood home as her inspiration for Country Life’s tongue-in-cheek humour, Tottering Hall, headed up by Dick and Daffy and their loyal black Labrador, Slobber.

The leading state-of-the-art, purpose-built wellness centre Avalon, features pools, therapy rooms and studios, is dedicated to transformational work and the art of being. Guests have the opportunity to book a yoga class, relaxing treatments, workshops, or even Forest Bathing, and there is the additional option to exclusively hire this centre for wellbeing experiences.

Broughton Hall is 30 miles from Leeds Airport and 55 miles from Manchester Airport. Within the grounds of the estate are 19 additional cottages offering further accommodation for your group, all within easy reach of Broughton Hall, each in the their own private setting within Broughton Sanctuary.

Set within the original estate walled garden, The Utopia Bistro offers a complimentary breakfast to guests weekday mornings. Designed by Sir Michael Hopkins, this contemporary building is perfect for special occasions catering for up to 120 guests.

For an additional charge, the head chef and catering team at Broughton Hall can fully cater your stay, offering a variety of menus depending on your requirements.
