The beautiful hamlet of Beckermonds is positioned in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This detached holiday cottage makes an ideal retreat from everyday life, being one of only five dwellings in this secluded location. Beckermonds, from the ‘Old Norse’, means the ‘meeting of the streams’. It is here, at the confluence of Oughtershaw and Greenfield becks that the River Wharfe starts its journey through Langstrothdale, into Upper Wharfedale and then continues to define one of the most celebrated dales. Nestled in the valley, East House Farm has glorious views from almost every window. Its spacious and airy accommodation is beautifully presented and from the peaceful, south facing, lawned front garden, you can expect to see rare red squirrels and a variety of wildlife.
Right outside the door are memorable walking opportunities set amid breathtaking scenery. Your doorstep also offers private fly fishing (trout, free of charge, Mar-Sep). Contained within a 5 mile easy walking radius you’ll find three quintessential dales’ pubs; the George at Hubberholme; the White Lion at Cray and the Buck Inn at Buckden. Why not visit them together, in an 11 mile circuit walk? The market town of Hawes is only a 7-mile drive away and offers a selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, banks and a chemist, as well as a traditional British fish and chip restaurant. Hawes is also the home to the famous Hawes Creamery, makers of Wallace and Gromit`s favourite Wensleydale cheese. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

Beautiful cottage in a very peaceful location. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The front garden as regularly visited by a variety of bird life, rabbits and red squirrels. Completed some great walks from the door, no need to drive. Very good communication from the owners. We would definitely return.

Very enjoyable week at this gorgeous cottage although weather was pretty atrocious at times but upshot of that was fantastic roaring rivers some of which could be seen from the cottage. On the 4 afternoons when weather was quite good we managed to visit the market villages of Skipton , Grassington and Hawes which was really the reason we came. So much to see from the cottage views to die for,red squirrels and a vast amount of different species of bids,and inside the cottage everything you could need including books and games. Plenty of walks from the cottage and beyond alas we are in our later years so unable to take advantage of but would highly recommend for people of all ages.Philip and Jane

Okay I have put poor for local amenities but that is only because there aren't anyas the cottage is so isolated which suited us fine. Open the door and you are right in the middle of the Dales with numerous walks from the doorstep. With red squirrels sitting on the windowsill an abundance of birds, rabbits and wood peckers all paying you a visit who needs amenities. We did take all of the food with us although I believe you can get a home delivery. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and very delightful.We will definitely visit again but seems very popular as most dates booked.
