The beautiful hamlet of Beckermonds is positioned in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This detached holiday cottage makes an ideal retreat from everyday life, being one of only five dwellings in this secluded location. Beckermonds, from the ‘Old Norse’, means the ‘meeting of the streams’. It is here, at the confluence of Oughtershaw and Greenfield becks, that the River Wharfe starts its journey through Langstrothdale, into Upper Wharfedale and then continues to define one of the most celebrated dales. Right outside the door are memorable walking opportunities set amid breath-taking scenery, as well as private fly fishing nearby (trout, free of charge, Mar-Sep). The private, enclosed, dog friendly, west facing garden is a glorious sun trap on summer evenings, from where you can expect to see rare red squirrels and a variety of wildlife.
Contained within a 5-mile easy walking radius, you will find three quintessential dales pubs. Why not visit them together in an 11-mile circuit walk? The market town of Hawes is only 7 miles away and offers shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, banks and a chemist, as well as a traditional British fish and chip restaurant. Hawes is also the home to the famous Hawes Creamery, makers of Wallace and Gromits favourite Wensleydale cheese. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

A lovely cosy stone cottage in the most beautiful location. Perfect if you like being away from it all and beautiful scenery. Always so clean with everything you need for a perfect relaxing break. Walks from the doorstep and lots of attractions to go to see, then home to sit by the cosy fire. The owners are so friendly and helpful. I’ve been 3 times and will definitely be back again!

Comfortable, cosy, clean and well-equipped converted barn. Beautiful and peaceful location by the river and which felt like the middle of nowhere but was relatively easy to get to the places we wanted to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed hiking from door to door and returning to a lovely fire (great stove). Everything we needed for self-catering and we also visited The George Inn 4m away. Huge comfortable bed! Would definitely stay again, just lovely. Thanks for having us.

I cannot say how much we enjoyed our stay at Woods Barn. We saty away as often as we can but always look forward to coming home...Woods Barn was different, we wanted to stay and when we got back home wanted to go back. That's how much we loved it. It's not easy getting the balance of cleanliness, comfort, location, a beautiful enclosed outside garden and quality...this has it all. The beds are so comfortable and I personally love the one overlooking the garden as the beds go to the wall keeping it cool whilst sleeping, I honestly slept so well the whole time there. We will definately return. Please note, I've scored 'local amenities' as 5. There are no local shops etc but the village of Hawes is just a 15 minute drive and has all you need. Let's be honest....you don't holiday in this part of the world and expect a Tesco just around the corner (they do deliver though!)....as there are no corners, just great view after great view! So, if you want spectacular sights, great walking, peace and quiet and nothing but a calm and relaxing environment...Woods Barn is the place to go.
