The beautiful hamlet of Beckermonds is positioned in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This detached holiday cottage makes an ideal retreat from everyday life, being one of only five dwellings in this secluded location. Beckermonds, from the ‘Old Norse’, means the ‘meeting of the streams’. It is here, at the confluence of Oughtershaw and Greenfield becks, that the River Wharfe starts its journey through Langstrothdale, into Upper Wharfedale and then continues to define one of the most celebrated dales. Right outside the door are memorable walking opportunities set amid breath-taking scenery, as well as private fly fishing nearby (trout, free of charge, Mar-Sep). The private, enclosed, dog friendly, west facing garden is a glorious sun trap on summer evenings, from where you can expect to see rare red squirrels and a variety of wildlife.
Contained within a 5-mile easy walking radius, you will find three quintessential dales pubs. Why not visit them together in an 11-mile circuit walk? The market town of Hawes is only 7 miles away and offers shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, banks and a chemist, as well as a traditional British fish and chip restaurant. Hawes is also the home to the famous Hawes Creamery, makers of Wallace and Gromits favourite Wensleydale cheese. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
This property can be booked together with East House Farm (UK2213) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
Free WiFi
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.
Only dogs allowed at the property.
Suitable for up to 2 pets

The cottage is in a great location to get away from it all. Proper All Creatures Great and Small country. There’s even one of the farms used in filming within 2 miles of the cottage. Beckermonds is a small hamlet of a handful of properties and there are lovely walks in the doorstep and plenty of other places to visit nearby. The garden is lovely and is secure for dogs plus there were so many birds and even a red squirrel. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we've had and the welcome pack including the bottle of wine was very generous. Property was clean and comfortable. The Chippie in Hawes was amazing. The deep fried Wensleydale was a revelation. Only issue with it being so rural was the wifi wasn’t great but to be expected with the location however the TV is Freely so goes through the internet. That being said there are DVDs, games and books to entertain when you are back from a day out. With it being summer and proximity to the river there were a lot of midges so you couldn’t have windows and doors open to air the property. Some fly screens might help with this. We did love the peace and quiet and will look to book again in the future.
