About this property

Swainby Cottage is an elegantly appointed and charming mid-terrace cottage resting in the centre of Swainby, a small village in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire. Its sought after location, perfect for exploring the north-western corner of the North York Moors National Park, coupled with an exceptional interior design, makes this the perfect base for couples, families and friends to call home for a week or two. After an adventure filled day, look forward to returning to the warmth of the open-plan living room, where a woodburning stove is awaiting to set a tranquil ambiance on a crisp winter’s eve. Beyond the sitting area is the beautifully renovated kitchen, complete with an array of quality appliances so that the chef of the group can show off their culinary skills. Continuing to impress, the property features a washing machine, so that you can easily freshen up your walking gear after a muddy adventure! Rest those post adventure soles and retreat upstairs, where two wonderfully presented bedrooms await, as well as a sleek family bathroom, complete with a shower over bath. The master suite is notable for its quality linens that drape across the sumptuous king-size bed, which has the benefit of its own TV, perfect for those lazy mornings in bed! The second bedroom enjoys a double bed, as well as neutral colour palette to ensure a refreshing space to wake up to each morning, bliss! For the evenings where you do not feel like cooking, find two excellent pubs just a stone’s throw away, as well as a shop for picking up any essentials and a pretty stream to meander along. Avid ramblers can don their walking boots and set off on one of the many footpaths that surround the cottage, including the Cleveland Way and the Coast-to-Coast walk in the North Yorkshire Moors. Alternatively, spend your afternoons exploring the bustling market towns of Stokesley and Northallerton, whilst the nearby village of Osmotherly is a charming spot to visit too. Other local attractions include the National Trust owned Mount Grace Priory, the ruins of Whorlton Castle and Renny Lake for course fishing; there is certainly something for everyone here. Further afield finds includes the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough, as well as the striking Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering even more outdoor adventure opportunities. With all of this and much more, secure your stay at Swainby Cottage for a memorable holiday to North Yorkshire.

Very clean and super comfortable beds.

The kitchen has everything you need and more. Lovely log burner which we used a bit but the cottage was warm enough without it. Great facilities in Swainby village with the shop being the highlight and just round the corner and serving the best bacon butty we've had. Beautiful setting opposite the church and next to the beck. Easy roadside parking. Recommend a trip!

In general we find it very good value for money in a very pleasant location. It is compact but fine for two people. It is very clean and quiet and is well equipped. The only issue for us is that we can't use the log burner as I am asthmatic. Hence the living room is a bit on the chilly side at times. It does not have central heating and that should be pointed out. The panel heaters are also not in the main bedroom. Otherwise we are content with the cottage and would return because of the competitive price.
