Lovely house in a peaceful location. Well equipped.I'm not letting this affect my overall review but one specific issue seriously marred our short stay. The carbon monoxide alarm in the living room emitted a shrill beep every 30 seconds from after midnight on our second night. We could not resolve (not ideal having 2 69 year olds trying to balance on a chair to shut it up). The owner arranged for someone to come out the next day (4pm so we had to sit outside to try to avoid the noise. If it had been raining it would have been unbearable). Unfortunately we did not know that there was a second alarm of the same vintage in another room. This also went off in the middle of our 4th night. Owner informed. A shame the owner didn't think to arrange for this to be dealt with at the same time. I think there is a safety issue here as I think the date of fitting was 2017 and they should be changed every 7 years. For us the main issue was that sleep was extremely difficult for 2 of our 4 nights. It is not clear on cottages.com how I can make a formal complaint and ask for a refund.Such a shame as otherwise a lovely place to stay. Hence my rating is designed not to put others off.
