Cliff Cottage is praised for its spaciousness, great scenery, and peaceful location. Guests enjoyed the pool table and found the cottage to be fairly comfortable with good showers and WiFi. The property's picturesque setting and lawn are highlights, offering a tranquil retreat.
The cottage was generally found to be reasonably clean, but some guests noted cobwebs, a musty smell, and unclean kitchenware and appliances, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness.
The location is consistently described as beautiful and picturesque, with a good-sized lawn and quiet surroundings, contributing to a peaceful stay.
While the cottage is spacious, guests reported issues with bed comfort and water temperature. Some mattresses were uncomfortable, and the hot water was not warm enough for some guests.
Facilities received mixed reviews. Guests enjoyed the pool table and WiFi, but noted broken bed slats, a non-functional DVD player, and issues with the dishwasher and cooker. Maintenance appears to be needed.
There were no specific mentions of gifts or thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, such as a welcome pack, which guests typically appreciate. It should be noted that while such amenities are appreciated, they are not guaranteed.

None of these issues had been addressed and the customer service is appalling. I have complained without a satisfactory response. Sykes should take accountability in what they advertise for their guests. If I don't get a refund I intend to take this matter further

The beds were all uncomfortable, one even had a double mattress in a king size frame. The hot water is only just warm enough to wash in with no way of setting it higher because the nest controller is pin locked. The range cooker needed a deep clean. No wood is provided for the log burner (this would help the damp issues) The crockery cupboard stinks, meaning all the plates and glasses needed to be washed before use. No welcome pack (eggs, milk etc) On the whole it was reasonably clean though. Overall a disappointing stay, this cottage could be wonderful with the right management and a little tlc.

Nice cottage and fairly comfortable with lots of space and we thoroughly enjoyed playing pool in the evenings. Showers good and WiFi fine, cottage clean and plenty of crockery. Few things that would improve it from our point of view... -Dishwasher control was broken so didn't know what setting it was on and couldn't change it. -A previous review mentioned the cooker not being clean, the top was fine but we found sticky, dirty and brown shelves and a dirty tray with sausage fat still inside on arrival. We cleaned the tray but not the shelves, only used it a couple of times. -A hair dryer would have been welcome, not expensive, unless it was missed. -A handrail at the top on the left of the stairs would have helped Dad get upstairs, there's nothing to hold onto for an older person. -A few new mattresses would be good, although ok to sleep on, springs could be felt when sitting on them. -Could do with a new tin opener. -We felt that hot water temperature needs to be increased slightly, lots of warm showers. -Pictures on website showed logs in basket but none supplied, again not expensive but would be a nice touch, we left the rest of ours for next guests. Not withstanding the above, we had a lovely time and with a few tweeks it would have been even better. Thank you.
