Tucked away on the outskirts of Knaresborough, in North Yorkshire, is this fabulous, ground-floor abode, Plum Cottage. Benefitting from an open-plan living space, an enclosed yard and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Plum Cottage is a fantastic choice for a family of four looking to escape to this serene part of Northern England. After a day of hiking, look forward to unwinding in the open-plan living space, curling up on the sofa and tuning into your favourite shows on the Smart TV. Move over to the kitchen and begin preparing something tasty, utilising the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with ice box, whilst the addition of the washing machine means you won’t need to bring your whole wardrobe. As the night grows dark, head to the bedrooms to catch your rest; there is a double and a twin serviced by a gleaming shower room. To the outside of Plum Cottage is an enclosed yard and there is off-road parking for one car. Head into the centre of Knaresborough for a choice of amenities, including several convenience stores from which you can stock-up on the essentials, whilst there are also restaurants and pubs should you fancy a night away from the kitchen. Walk off all that food around Mackintosh Park, tour the Mother Shipton’s Cave or take the opportunity to see the remains of Knaresborough Castles. Knaresborough also has a train station which provides great links to the East Coast mainline at York and to Leeds in the other direction, whilst there is also a bus service that runs to the spa town of Harrogate. The city of York is 20 miles away and offers beautiful architecture with the imposing structure of York Minster, plus there is a great selection of shops and a thriving arts and culture scene. Escape to Plum Cottage and experience the best of North Yorkshire.
One of the nicest places in North Yorkshire is the old market and spa town of Knaresborough, which is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and has a view of the River Nidd. Its position makes it the perfect starting point for exploring the breathtaking countryside of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks. For those who enjoy history, Knaresborough Castle, St. John's Church, and Knaresborough House were all constructed by the Normans somewhere around 1100 AD. Mother Shipton's petrifying well, the Courthouse Museum, "Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England," which dates back to 1720, and the eccentric House in the Rock are some of the town's additional attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts can go cycling, climbing, fishing, boating, having lovely walks by the river, or just relaxing and taking in the stunning environment. The town core is filled with interesting stores and galleries, and every Wednesday, a vibrant and colourful market is held there. Nearby attractions include the spa town of Harrogate, the magnificent stately residences of Castle Howard and Harewood House, the Cistercian abbeys of Fountains, Rievaulx, and Jervaulx, as well as the castles of Middleham, Bolton, and Richmond. Both Ripon and York are intriguing, mediaeval cathedral cities.
