About this property

Hawes 1.4 miles. Tucked away in the quaint hamlet of Appersett, just over a mile away from Hawes, is the striking 17th century dwelling, East House. A charming abode exuding an abundance of character, this Wensleydale cottage features creative, traditional styling, which perfectly compliments its original features such as the old oak beams and stone flagged floor, and offers a delightful setting for a small family getaway or a romantic break to the countryside for two. Spend your evenings snuggled up in front of the gorgeous 18th century stone and cast-iron open fire, as you watch all of your favourite movies on Netflix. Continue through to the pretty country-style kitchen/diner where you can rustle up many delectable treats with the help of the wide range of appliances that lie within, before gathering at the beautiful wood dining table to tuck in to your meals whilst enjoying quality time with your significant other. When you begin to feel yourself tire, take yourself off to the restful ground-floor single benefiting from its very own en-suite shower room, or climb the staircase to the wonderfully decorated king-size and discover a bright and spacious en-suite bathroom where you can indulge in a lengthy afternoon soak in the tub. Start your mornings with a tasty cup of coffee out in the enclosed front garden as you embrace your lovely surroundings and breath in the fresh countryside air. Grab your walking boots and delight in a short stroll to the Hardraw Force Waterfall, before heading to the centre of Hawes for a hearty breakfast at one of the many local cafés. Take a tour of the Dales Countryside Museum and explore Aysgill Force, or travel across to Middleham and uncover The Forbidden Corner. Head underground through the longest show cave within the UK, White Scar Cave, and spot the imposing 18th century architecture of Ribblehead Viaduct as you embark on an awe-inspiring hike along the incredible Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. With all this to do and more, a holiday to East House is simply not to be missed!

The delightful market town of Hawes is the highest settlement in Wensleydale and home to the delicious Wensleydale cheese. The town is also famous for rope making; a skill passed down through the generations and a fascination for many of the visitors that come to the town. A regular market is held on a Tuesday and Hawes has many excellent shops and eateries in its midst. The beautiful limestone countryside surrounding the town provides a huge variety of walks and other outdoor pursuits, and for sightseeing opportunities the area is unsurpassed with the spectacular Hardraw Force and the Aysgarth falls just two of the natural wonders to be seen. Hawes is a delightful town and makes a superb base for a holiday in this magnificent area.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Quirky stairs to bedroom but fine if you take your time. Nicely furnished and homely. Very clean. Parking not a problem as we have a small car. Worth walking to cottage from road to check if suitable for your car. Having toilets upstairs and downstairs a bonus. Would highly recommend.

Bed was very comfy and so was the duvet and bed linen. was a nice surprise when we got there to find milk in the fridge and cheese and fruit cake on the table. would recommend to everyone.

Lovely walks straight from the cottage and a short drive away to see amazing waterfalls such as Ingleton falls, hardraw force and aysgarth falls. Hawes is a great for a pub lunch and small shops.
