Tucked away in a quiet mews, yet just a stone’s throw from the popular village centre in Askrigg, sits this lovely mews style cottage. Lovingly restored to a good standard, it offers comfortable and spacious accommodation perfect for a couple or small group to enjoy a getaway in beautiful Wensleydale.
Step through the front door into a large entrance porch, with an old school bench and a wall mounted Ordnance Survey map, great for finding your bearings and plotting walking routes. The cottage is decorated in subtle grey colours, along with a selection of artwork and tasteful soft furnishings. A spacious living room with two comfy sofas invites you to curl up around the cosy multi-fuel burner, while the Shaker-style kitchen is a dream to cook in with all modern appliances and kitchen accessories.
Upstairs are two beautifully furnished bedrooms enjoying views across the Dales to Addleborough. There is also a family bathroom. Outside is a paved patio with garden furniture and a parking area.
The village has a well-stocked shop and a delicatessen where you can order a picnic to take with you on your travels. The three pubs in the village all provide local ales and homely fayre. There are plentiful walks along the banks of the nearby River Ure and the Askrigg Waterfalls Walk, which takes in both Whitfield Force and Mill Gill Force. For the more adventurous, try a climb up the hill of Addleborough across the dale. The Yorkshire Dales offer spectacular scenery and an abundance of walks of all ability levels to explore.
The historic town of Richmond, famed for its castle, Georgian theatre, riverside walks and abundance of independent shops and tea rooms, is around a 30-minute drive. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham, a quirky venue with its labyrinth of caves, folly and underground caverns is 13 miles away, and is hugely popular with families. Picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Castle Bolton are nearby and the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes are a short drive away. Fishing can be found nearby. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 25 yards.

A very comfortable and well-equipped cottage, with its own parking space and EV charger, ideally situated, right in the heart of Askrigg. The owners have, very thoughtfully, provided local walking guides, as well as a selection of books and DVDs; and there was also a very nice welcome pack. Very highly recommended.

What a great cottage. The only, single, downside was parking was a bit tight. BUT absolutely worth it. The owners could not have thought of anything more. Every time I thought "Oh I forgot....", I looked and they'd thought of it, even down to foil for our packup. As a previous reviewer said, the rooms are actually larger than they appear on the photos. It's a lovely cottage, excellent value for money and we had a perfect Welcome Pack, including something for the dog. I would happily go back.

3rd time at this cottage, has everything you need, very warm and quiet. Porch excellent for the dog if he came back wet or muddy. Askrigg is a lovely village; plenty of walks from the door, we love it here!
