East Lane Barn is a traditional stone-built Dales long house, in Newgiggin-in-Bishopdale, Wensleydale, in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Enjoying a fabulous rural position and fantastic views, it comfortably accommodates 4 people and is ideal for couples, friends or small families. Entered via a welcoming rear garden room with seating which doubles as a utility/boot room. This has exposed stone walls and leads through into the farmhouse-tyle kitchen diner. The newly fitted shaker-style kitchen is well equipped and with large arched windows to the front makes a very pleasant dining area to sit and take in the views. The living area is spacious and retains the character of the property with oak beams, a multi-fuel burner sat on a stone hearth and a wooden feature wall with dual aspect windows. To the first floor are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, each enjoying fantastic views across the valley. There is a modern family shower room with walk-in shower. Externally there is a private patio with raised rockery style garden that looks out onto open fields.
A short walk will take you to the local pub serving local ales and good food, whilst a little further away you have the villages of West Burton and Thoralby. The busier market towns of Hawes and Leyburn are just a short drive away and have an interesting selection of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. East Lane Barn is set in beautiful open countryside with an abundance of walks right from the door..

This is our third time at East Lane barn. We absolutely love it here, having recently downloaded the Merlin bird app we were over the moon to have heard a red kite and tawny owl in the back garden. We were visited by deer, sheep and a fox this time too. There were workmen when we arrived on Friday at the building next door which was quite loud but they soon finished for weekend. We ventured into Kettlewell, Ribblehead viaduct, Grassington & Linton falls. Very much looking forward to coming again at Christmas and being able to wake up on my birthday there.Having this been our third time I feel I can just add a couple of pointers to bring this place back up to its amazing and niche potential again.The wood under the oven has come unstuck, looks like it’s been glued previously and maybe the hot weather has played havoc a bit, looks a bit of an eyesore. The frying pan is a little too well loved and may need replacing as everything you cook sticks. A couple of windows have blown, an upstairs landing window and one of the arched ones in the kitchen.The sunroom & bathroom may need sealing somewhere as the amount of flies getting in with windows closed was astounding. You expect bugs in the countryside but it was excessive. Upon arrival the lounge had dried in crusty muddy paw prints on the carpet. Upstairs bedroom had empty cans in the bedside table draws. This took 10 mins to sort and I didn't feel the need to complain as it took 10 mins to sort myself but maybe should have been flagged by the cleaner.I think it would maybe benefit from a deeper clean, cobwebs and windows as they were full of marks and hand prints. Just little things to make it a little less like having a few jobs to do when you arrive. Absolutely not put us off and looking forward to coming again at Christmas and booking again for next year.

Brilliant week at East Lane Barn, lovely cottage in a peaceful location. The barn is well equipped and cosy, with a log fire if you feel a little chilly although we didn't need it this time.There is a great overhead shower in the bathroom and personally I found the bed to be very firm but comfortable. Lovely little sunroom and garden to sit at end of day. Great base for walking/cycling.The local pub , just a mile up the road does excellent food and the small shop at Aysgarth service station or Spar in Hawes for groceries. It is very quiet and apart from nextdoor, who we only saw once nearest neighbour seems to be the pub or farm at other side of field.Downside - entry is through next doors garden, no washing machine. If planning on visiting attractions, car is definitely needed. Granddaughter was a bit bored as it was too remote for her.

We had a lovely time staying at this accommodation. It was nice and secluded, well equipped and comfortable. The only disappointment was that unfortunately we had no hot water at all on our last morning so had to cancel our plans as we needed showers etc. otherwise all good and we loved visiting some of the lovely small villages and waterfalls around the Dales.
